:hotjump: i finally managed to read this thread! every time i tried the damn board crashed, yesterday :(
the strips look nice, but i can't help it: i'm a simpson and futurama lover :)

note: and of course the shitty board went down while i was posting this :( now, let's try again... *crosses fingers*

Rei: and how would S&F lovership be a bad thing? ;)

I guess I should consider myself as almost-and-someday-to-come-die-hard fan... :)

The humor in Futurama is much more perceiving and to the point than in newer simpsons (let's say 9th season and so forth). But still, the old simpsons are so classic that I just have to love them more... :)

I don't watch The Simpsons much anymore... mainly 'cos I can never seem to remember to turn on the tv at the right times :erk: but I still love that show. Whenever I catch Futurama on though I definitely watch it 'cos that show is just hilarious

Matt Groening is definitely the "father of the creature", and I love Futurama and The Simpsons. But I find that Groening working alone lacks of the subtle tinge of genius the two projects aforementioned have inherently in each episode, every detail is damn well plotted!!!

Reactions: Downfall
@Downfall: Yeah, and Barney has a very accurated personality, as the great average of the Simpsons characters have. Barney is a drunk man that shows brief proofs of lucidity from time to time, I adore the episode where Barney makes a movie for a short movies contest.

In the same way, people who think that Homer is merely a dumbass haven't digged up the entangled personality Homer has acquired over the years.

"Excuse me, did something just crawl out of your mouth and die?"
"It didn't die."
:lol::lol:

Like you said, most of the characters have hidden features (like the fact that Homer knows kung-fu... :)). For a while I've tried to figure out Lenny. apart from the fact that he doesn't have a last name (:)) he's in some weird stuff. for example I was pretty puzzled with his pictures in the Newyorker (or what's-it-called?) in the episode where Apu cheats on his wife... And he's the president in Homer's dream in the episode where homer becomes an inventor. the latter one isn't very important since it's only homer's dream. I guess there are things in the show that don't even have to make sense, I just don't know if this is one of them... :)

Well, a characteristic aspect in The Simpsons show is that there are a bunch of people who play different roles depending on the episode, so it can perfectly be either a mere coincidence or the effect of abusing from certain substances by the plotters. In any case, the results are always so brilliantly developed, and we can see the very same people working together in a sect (the episode where Homer is the Chosen One of the sect because of a mark in his skin, and I adore when he desecrates the sect's holy papyrus) or performing as a rock band.

The absurd humour is more noticeable (unavoidable?) in Futurama, where everything is constantly changing and jokes are based on apparently nonsensical jokes.

Oh, my!!!!

"Goodnews everyone...a new Matt Groening thread has been unleashed and you have to deliver some posts in them..."

"Where's the good news, then?"

"The what?"

"The good news!!"

"I didn't say anything about good news!!! And leave me alone...I have coupon-cards to fill in!!!!"

"But you just mentioned about the new Matt Groening thread!!!"

"Did I??? Oh, but that's good news..."

fatherama ( :hotjump: )

well, what can I say....Groening and all the rest of the team (scripters basically) have a little room in my heart, quite a big one in my brain and full time factory in my lungs...I really can't say home much I adore this guy...
First with The Simpsons but specially later with Futurama, Groening has really enjoy more moments than nothing else on TV!!!!

Trying to explain why i like futurama would need hundreds of post of unreasonable and unconnected thoughts and half of them would include Brannighan and Zoidberg..and a couple of Space Pirates (you know, like pirates...but in space! ;) )

I just wish www.mattgroening.com was already available, cause it's two years since it's under construction!!!!!

And now, please...somebody throw a gegantic Icecube to the sea because here is hot like hell...and let's solve this problem once and for all...I said ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!
