Megadeth - Endgame

Easily the best Megadeth album of the new era (since 2004). IMO the only weaker song is, funnily enough, 1,320. Just can't get into it. My favorite track is How The Story Ends by far. Reminds me of better days.

A great cd and still great after playing it consistently for several months now. My favourite tune is The Right To Go Insane.

Yep I have to admit that if I put World Painted Blood in a side by side comparison with Endgame I would have to honestly say Megadeth's album is the better one. But that could just be my personal bias as I have always found far more diversity and melody in Mustaine's work than anything Slayer have done (that's not to say I don't love Tom, Dave, Kerry & Jeff have done).

Couple good songs.. How The Story Ends is great..

Other than that there are a couple good songs and alot of average stuff..

I agree that musically there is alot of potential but that's about it.. Two of teh favorites do nothing for me..

44 minutes... Boring

1320 - Musically grat but the lyrics are soo bad I cannot listen to it.

Not one of Megadeth's better albums..

I'd have it ahead of KIMB (just more listenable imo), Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, The System Has Failed, and United Abominations. For me it's in their better half of their catalogue.

Agree with you Timmy... I think it's defo one of their better albums and I felt that TSHF & UA were both very good too.

Musically I do like the album a lot better than anything they did after Countdown. But I'm not too fond of Dave's vocals and especially a lack of memorable vocal lines. I miss the melody/catchiness (whichever you prefer) he could pull off during his SFSGSW and PS days.
The vocals on Endgame just seem so hastily put together. It doesn't give the songs that bit 'extra'

+1...nicely put.

It's a good piece of work from Dave. The best since CTE. And I'd also rate it on the top-half of Megadeth albums. Riffs and solos in abundance. While I like 44 minutes I agree that the forced phrasing sinks it somewhat. Like someone pointed out some times the songs are just riff after riff, I miss the feeling for melodies Dave had in RIP. The right to go insane is cool as fuck combining the SFSGSW-era with Youthanasia.
