What the hell was it? Come on fellas, I'm going tonight and im dying to know. Was the gig good?

Ha! You foolEs who didn't go the Nevermore gig last night MISSED OUT BIG TIME. The band was AMAZING (as usual). Jeff's solos slew, and the other guitarist (I dunno who he was...) played with SHEER BRILLIANCE.

Does anyone know who the second guitarist was? He knew the material VERY well. I know it wasn't Steve Smyth. Steve has a very recognisable face!

This is the third time I've seen em, and prolly the tightest I've seen them. It could have a LOT to do with the material they played...

The sound for the support bands (Black Majesty and Transcending Mortality) wasn't that good... I was standing just outsdie that lil enclave part for BM, and right up the back for TM (who I am getting into now!). We went right up front for NM though, and about half way through the set it sounded like the drums suddenly turned up to volume 11. It was awesome!!! Thunderous even!

From memory they played:

Final Product
My Acid Words
Next in Line
We Disintergrate
Sentient 6
Inside Four Walls
The Heart Collector
The River Dragon
I, Voyager
Born
Engines of Hate
This Godless Endeavour

I was saying before the show "I hope they play 'Next in Line' cos it's my fav song" And they did... They skipped that one when I saw em in 2003. I realised this morning, they played nothing from Dreaming Neon Black, the first album and the In Memory EP. I'm not really surprised about the self-titled album or In Memory, but I am surprised they didn't play Poison Godmachine or Dreaming Neon Black. But overall, it was a wicked set!

I must say though, the only NM t-shirt they had has a really crappy design, but of course I bought one anyways... I was hoping to get one of the new white NM shirts with the NM pentagram logo, and a black one too... Oh well!

I was in front of Loomis the whole gig and snagged his setlist at the end, it was as follows;

Final Product
My Acid Words
Narcosythesis
Next In Line
Inside Four Walls
The River Dragon Has Come
I, Voyager
The Heart Collector
Enemies of Reality
Sentient 6
Born

Engines of Hate (encore)
This Godless Endeavor (encore)

enjoy!

oh yeah, and the second guitarist was Chris Broderick wasn't it?

The sound for the gig was atrocious. The volume was cranked to insane levels throughout the gig. I feel so sorry with people without earplugs because even with mine in, my ears were still fucked afterwards.

The sound for the first two bands was terrible. Nevermore's engineer rectified it a bit with actually mixing things properly. The problem was that Van's cymbals are some of the loudest fucking things I have heard in my life. The engineer had to crank the rest of the band just to get heard above them and that pretty much shot the sound in the foot for the entire gig.

Having said that. Nevermore were great and Jeff made the solos look so easy. My favourite part was chatting with Broderick near the mixing desk and then after the gig. He's a really really cool and humble dude and I would have loved the chance to just down a beer or two with him and chat a bit more.
