Mesa/Boogie .50 Caliber???

Hey,
A band offered me an older Mesa/Boogie .50 Caliber tube head in partial exchange for a session (about 500 dollars worth of their bill). I can't find out too much about these heads and was wondering if anyone here had any practical experience with them and what they thought. Bottom line, should I do this? Please let me know, thanks in advance...

the 50 caliber sounds awsome! i used to have a combo. tight distortion and super sparkling cleans. i would go with the deal, if it is a 6L6 version head.

Thanks a lot guys, glad to know the amp will get some use. I was pretty convinced beforehand but with the addition of your comments I definitely think I'll take the offer.
