Mesa Dual Rectifier 2ch

OMG, both of clips above are awesome! I think I'm in love now with this fucking hot tube amp!! :| @Metalastic: why didn't you suggest me this monster? :d :P

Holy fuck nuggets those tones are good, both marcus and poidabi. Especially marcus, thats the best tone I've heard from you, and I can tell that would sit lovely in a mix :)

Joe

Thanks a lot Joe! As I said, this past week I've really just had to stop being such a bitch about the dustcap and presence knob, and know that the fizz will be a recipe for awesome in a mix! Not an easy lesson to be learned though

^ Well you're definitely learning 180 degree opposite lessons to me

The fizz can get washed away in some mixes, but by no means is it something to aim for. Guitar tones in metal are all about getting the mids right and having the highs present, yet in control. The smoother the sound of the mids, the more crushing the tone when the bass and kick are brought into things.

Well one lesson at a time I suppose! (but then again, you think the "Sweet Vengeance" tone is actually something to aspire to, so I guess we have different ideas of good tone :heh: )

Haha, well I did in post 12 in your thread, but in passing - the HD147 is a great, convenient live amp, but in a recording nothing beats tube amps! (especially a Dual Rec :D)

anybody wana share their settings for their dual rec?:notworthy

Sure! Here are the exact settings for the clip above:

The red (bottom) channel, that is, I don't normally have the orange dialed in that way (it was for getting a fat clean tone to break in my speakers ;))

Aaaw, you make me cry with your dual rectifiers. Really.
I love it's tone and of course your recti tones :(
thanks to our ultra-stupid government and to some assholes at the import, the cheapest dual rectifiers are at 2549 €, which would be some nice 3.325,04 US Dollars. FUCK!

One funny thing is, for example "Hughes & Kettner" (german). They are even cheaper in the US. wtf? :Smug:
Yeah, but i don't want to be off-topic all the time, only a last question:
Could someone name me a big US-online store for music equipment, plz?
Because i couldn't find the dual recti neither on http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ nor on http://www.music123.com/
And: http://www.sweetwater.com/feature/not_available/mesaboogie.php (lol)
Why?

Stupid Mesa policies, they can't be sold new online, they can't have their prices printed anywhere online, and music stores aren't allowed to negotiate the price for 'em! :Smug: Ebay is the way to go for online ordering, and I'm sure you could find someone who would ship to Germany!

Strange :hypno:

Thats the daily question in german music-forums, whether it is cheaper to import an amp from the US or buy a used one here.
We have a different line voltage so you need a (not very cheap) transformer, and our customs office is very keen on earning some extra money, plus the shipping costs.
In the end it's as expensive as buying a used dual recti here, and you don't have the problems with the voltage and warranty. :goggly:
