3 days ago I aquired the above in rack form from someone selling local. Bought it for £1050 sounded amazing through a randall cab with a ts9 infront at the space we tried it out so I took the plunge. Got it home.. poweramp wouldnt fire. Rang the guy and after talking it through he said he would repair the problem. The poweramp would not light up and all you could here is a loud mains hum. He repaired it (said there was a dry solder joint between transformer and main board?!?!) and I got it back the next day. Played it for half an hour and on the clean channel this buzz develops through my speaker as notes ring out then it gets worse and its starting to sound like optimus prime transforms evertime I pluck a note. So I ring him again (now im pissed off ive wasted £40in petrol running back and forth) so he agrees to look at it to see if somethings wrong. Problem is that this fault is intermitent and Im not sure what to do. It seems like too good of a deal to pass up over a faulty tube. But it has gone wrong everytime ive got it home, be it one thing or another and I cant deal with an unreliable amp especially when its the only one I will own if I sell my powerball. He also said he bought it new 2 years ago and hes only ever changed the tubes to electro harmonix when the mesa ones failed, but his mate slipped up in a pub last night saying he got it off ebay for a grand?? (the majical wonder of beer). The mesa's live in a 4 space rack and he threw a tube cube in for free. Any advice on what I should do? I really am thinking about cancelling the cheque and getting my money back.
