Yeah, End of Heartache is nice. Guitars are maybe a little too squishy and slightly muddy in the lower mids, but those upper mids are fantastic, and a very nicely controlled treble region.
Really love the lead guitar sound on Killswitch Engage's "Holy Diver" cover.
Anyway, it's kinda hard to pin point the "deathcore" sound since it's (contrary to popular belief from the "I ONLY LISTEN TO KVLT TROO METAL!" crowd) a pretty diverse genre musically.
You've got those chugga chugga breakdown every 20 seconds bands like Emmure, which is a style I absolutely hate.
Then you've got the much more creative and technical bands that are influenced by prog metal and technical death metal (the stuff I actually like), and because of this diversity, you could definitely reference death metal albums for deathcore and vice versa.
Chimaira, because wikipedia calls them partly a metalcore band (although I disagree, I think they're a pure groove metal band) is a good one me thinks for their last two albums.
Awesome music, plus pretty good mixes = win.
And while not metalcore, get Gojira's "The Way of All Flesh" purely because it's a ridiculously good metal mix in general and the music is awesome. '
Best sounding metal album in the last 3-4 years, easily.
