Wow when mixing core stuff I always struggle a bit when trying to dig out a cd to reference a bit.. So I would like to update my collection of reference cds a bit.

Any suggestion for awesome sounding cds I could add to the collection ?

For modern core (sturgis core) look no further than the man himself. His mixes are stellar. I'm partial to zack ohrens work on the ghost insides fury and the fallen ones, I think that cd has been one of the big defining hardcore albums of the last couple years.

I'm not big in the genre, but Minus the Herd is one of the only deathcore records I've heard where I thought the production was actually decent and fitting for the music. For metalcore I don't think you can go past 'The End of Heartache' as a guitar tone reference.

Check Unearth's "The March", mix&master by Andy; BMTH's "Suicide Season" by Nordstrom

Yeah, End of Heartache is nice. Guitars are maybe a little too squishy and slightly muddy in the lower mids, but those upper mids are fantastic, and a very nicely controlled treble region.
Really love the lead guitar sound on Killswitch Engage's "Holy Diver" cover.
Anyway, it's kinda hard to pin point the "deathcore" sound since it's (contrary to popular belief from the "I ONLY LISTEN TO KVLT TROO METAL!" crowd) a pretty diverse genre musically.
You've got those chugga chugga breakdown every 20 seconds bands like Emmure, which is a style I absolutely hate.
Then you've got the much more creative and technical bands that are influenced by prog metal and technical death metal (the stuff I actually like), and because of this diversity, you could definitely reference death metal albums for deathcore and vice versa.

Chimaira, because wikipedia calls them partly a metalcore band (although I disagree, I think they're a pure groove metal band) is a good one me thinks for their last two albums.
Awesome music, plus pretty good mixes = win.

And while not metalcore, get Gojira's "The Way of All Flesh" purely because it's a ridiculously good metal mix in general and the music is awesome. '
Best sounding metal album in the last 3-4 years, easily.

+1 to Minus the Herd. Not really for it's individual elements (aside from the drums, which are godly IMO), but it's overall epic and super spatial sonic signature....

Ah thanks alot guys, i will be picking up some albums soon then.
About Minus the Herd, the things I have heard sounds great.. I instantly recognized the sound/style from the metalcore mix thing you did some weeks (months?) ago

Have to experiment trying to get that kick sound, its a great alternative to the more "bigger" kicks im mostly using atm.

Despised Icon - Day Of Mourning
Beneath the Massacre - Dystopia

I'm assuming that you wanted a mix of the genres you mentioned ? rather than, say, a straight up death metal record?

Modern core stuff I'd say August Burns Red - Constellations.
More Hardcore style stuff, The Ghost Inside - Returners, or for something slightly more original sounding(tonally), The Amity Affliction - Youngbloods
A Day To Remember - Homesick is also quite good.
