just got this email......

Hi Everybody,
I am so sorry to inform you all that Metal for the brain has been called off this year. All insurance agencies have rejected the events Public Liability insurance. This is an outrage as these companies due to the "Metal" tag want to have no part of an event to raise money for The Brain Foundation.
We all at Metal for the Brain would like to thank you for all your support. In true metal spirit we are now organising the Metal For the Brain 12 which will be held next year in April.I will keep you all informed with it's progress.
Do not worry we may be down but not OUT of the game.
Take Care

Here's the Press Release:

-----------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone.

It is with much regret that we must inform you that Metal For The Brain has become a victim of the current Public Liability crisis.

We have been attempting to obtain Public Liability Insurance since March this year. All insurance brokers we contacted told us that no insurance companies would even look to quote our show until eight weeks out from the gig. During the past six weeks we have exhausted all avenues to try and get cover for our show. It seems that "Metal" is quite a dirty word in the insurance game and no underwriters were willing to back our small festival. A benefit concert that has been running successfully without incident or claim since 1990.

We are extremely sorry to all metal fans that Metal For The Brain will not happen in 2002. But at the end of the day we really had no alternative but to cancel the show.

We will be doing everything in our power to try to put the show on in 2003 - possibly earlier in the year.

Thanks to all who have helped and supported.

Again we apologise to the entire metal community.

Best wishes Rodney, Adam, Roy and John on behalf of M4TB
