having some trouble getting rid of that "pingy" sound in my snare, want to give it a thicker, more realistic sound, iv set up eq's and compressors on both snare top mics but dont really know what to do from here.. any suggestions are appreciated! kinda new at this

Olif8 is right. But let's try help ya. Try getting your hands on the fat city snare sample from the older Alesis Drum Modules. Its laying around somewhere on the Andy Sneap forum. Get it and augment it under the snare you already using. That should add some hair to the snares balls :p

Insert the Transient plug on your snare buss in SD2 to get rid of the 'ping'. Play with the release to your liking. Make sure your are bussing your individual components (Kick ,snare, toms etc..) to dedicated channels for processing in your DAW. There are plenty of tips on Joey and Andys forums on how to get maximum punch from your samples from there. Good luck!
