Metal Internet Radio,,,

I thought this might be a cool thread in which to share your favorite web radio stations. I have several that I listen to a regular basis. I have them bookmarked in WinAmp for easy one-click connection.

In no particular order they are...

Power Prog Radio - http://www.powerprogradio.net

They have four streams. I listen to the Main, Power and Prog channels. The Rock channel is pretty much just the same stuff I can hear on any FM rock station.

Epic Rock Radio - http://www.epicrockradio.com

A great station here...and they take requests. :)

PRM (Prog Rock & Metal) Radio - http://www.progrockandmetal.net

These guys get pretty deep into the prog and prog metal genres.

RockRadio1 - http://www.rockradio1.com

They play a decent mix of mainstream rock, classic rock and heavy metal...with a slight emphasis on metal.

Frontiers Records Webradio - http://www.frontiers.it/webradio

It's pretty much just Frontiers Records releases. So essentially it's just one long promo for Frontiers. But since they have some KILLER AOR/hard rock/metal releases...WHO CARES? Really full and punchy sounding stream too for some reason...perhaps headroom compressed ala FM radio?

Munich's Hardest Hits - http://www.munichshardesthits.com

Pure AOR/melodic rock! Puss rockers UNITE!

Are there any others I'm missing? And could I request WinAmp compatible links if available? The changes over at Live365 have made it VERY difficult for me to even find any WinAmp playlists on the site. I think they're trying to force people to use their browser based player.

I listen to ERR when I'm not in the mood for something specific. For me it's better late at night, as most of the US members are in bed and the Europeans are logged on...better requests. During the day, you'll get in waves of say, female heavy bands as some well established members are into that. At least that's what I notice and when I'll usually start listening to something else. That said, it's the best station I've found.

I've been planning a post to properly introduce myself and say hello to old and new friends. In the meantime.. :)

I run CodeBass Radio at http://cbrtune.in -- outside of the weekday show schedule, I play mostly Metal/Prog/Alt. The weekend is primarily Prog. On Thursdays at noon EST we have a show called "A Cerium Gist" which features all guitar-led melodic metal, and on Thursdays at 1pm EST for the remainder of the afternoon is The #GuiltyRobot Broadcast. That is hours of great Prog, and he has been tweeting to #ppusa for me since I went to my first one this year!

We love to support our community musicians.. so if any of you musicians want to toss us tunes for these shows or the 24/7 rotation, please feel free!

I've been playing lots of Kingcrow.. my new faves. :)

Well. as one of the dj-types there, I would highly recommend tuning in to www.progpalaceradio.com. Live shows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, Lance King's show "The S.H.O.P.P.E." airs on Tuesdays, and mine and Steve's pre-recorded shows on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, respectively. As an example, my "favorites of 2012" list includes the likes of Azure Agony, Bad Salad, Haji's Kitchen, Time's Forgotten, Corelia, The HAARP Machine, Periphery, Rudhira, Syqem, Thank You Scientist and ton more. Check us out if'n you get a chance!

PROG GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS -- SEASONS GREETINGS TOO to everyone!. I'm it -- the one and only -- broadcaster / hobbyist here with Prog Rock & Metal (PRM) internet radio - it's all out of my pocket! Coming up on 8 years now. I focus primarily on the latest in prog rock/metal which I indicate on my station's philosophy page, etc. I am truly amazed at all the ear candy out there and there is no end in sight. The talent is phenomenal. Man, could you even imagine running out of candy?

ANYWAY -----> Thanks MeTLHed for making your list! I don't have hundreds of listeners tuned in at a time (this isn't pop music you know!) but if I can get at least one new listener a day, or anytime, I've succeeded in spreading the best music genre of them all!

PROG ON!

I'm right there with Frank. Greg has one of the best stations out there, period @ http://progpalaceradio.com/

The live shows are great and the chat room is always open to friends and fans, especially the ProgPower attendees :) Come down and join the party folks! We even have bands joining us in chat from time to time.

Side note: it's a 192k stream that sounds killer - you get the full package! :headbang:

Greetings.
I wanted to say thanks to Frank and Joel for posting info about Prog Palace Radio. I also wanted to provide further information on the station for those that have not heard of us. PPR has been around for 13 years playing progressive and power metal music. All music on the station is available through our automated request system. As Joel stated our stream is 192k MP3 stream with almost 20,000 songs to choose from. PPR has shows just about every day with live shows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We have a chat room to meet others with the same musical taste and just to hang out and have fun listening to the music you love.

If you haven't checked us out stop by and say hey. :hotjump: Monday Dec 31st is our New Years Eve Extravaganza as we count down my Top 50 albums of 2012. Show starts at Noon ET. The show will consist of 4 DJs and the live show begins at 4PM ET.

Once again a special thanks to Frank and Joel for mentioning the station here.
I hope you have a chance to check us out and as always thanks for listening.

No problem bro. Thank YOU for providing such great music streamed free-of-charge. A labor of love no doubt.

Thanks to Frank, Joel and Greg for pointing me to ProgPalace. Good stuff! Bookmarked.

And PPLurker...I used to listen to Progulus some time ago. But as I mentioned in my original post, Live 365 have made it impossible for WinAmp users to listen anymore. If I could get a WinAmp playlist for Progulus, I would happily join in the fun.

Beyond Ear Candy is still on the air/web. Stop by for a visit and see what's new. Banner in my sig.
