I pretty new to recording so I feel free to noob-bash me
I just finished mixing this song for a local band. I know there are few things that need to be addressed but all in all I'm pretty happy with it..
I wanted to clicktrack the two tracks they wanted to record, but they weren't used to playing with clicks so we abandoned the idea..
Some info about the session:
Mics:
Bassdrum: Shure SM52A - Andy's kick mixed 30% in to get more "tick". sound.
Snare: SM57 - Mixed 80% Andy's ol' snaresample, pitched down a bit.
Tom1: MXL603 - Replaced with Chimaira tom sample 2.
Tom2: MXL 603 - Replaced with Chimaira tom sample 3 .
Floor: Shure PG57 - Replaced with Chimaira tom sample 4.
Overheads: 2 x MXL2003's.
Guitars: SM57 & MXL2003
Bass: DI
Vocals: SM57
(I don't own alot of Mics - very few actually, tried to use the best ones for the things I wasn't going to fully sound replace..)
Guitars:
LTD guitar (can't remember the exact model, EMG pickups) -> Tube Screamer (TS-808 reissue)-> Peavey 6505
Hardware:
Presonus Firestudio, Cubase 3, Drumagog, Waves.
Thanks for your comments in advance
