metal one hit wonders

@ubiquitous: your signature is positively creepy. what band name is supposed to be inscribed in that logo?

ok this doesnt really qualify, but dissections "storm of the lights bane" the reason im saying this is because i dont know anyone whos heard another song by them.
i have.
but ok, that doesn't disprove your point, i was being an ass.

Motorhead. To us, maybe not so much, but I don't reckon many people could name you a 'Head song besides 'Ace Of Spades'.
You mean motorhead features more than 1 different song? Shit they all sounded the same to me.

As for metal one hit wonders i dont know, i cant hardly think of any metal band that has "hits", let alone just 1.

Yeah, "one hit wonder" implies that the band gets radio play, so that's why there aren't too many in metal.

"Walk" by Pantera might be a good one, that's the only song of theirs I've ever heard on radio; but then again, they're hugely popular even without radio play, so maybe that's not a good choice..

How about "Epic" by Faith No More? That was a pretty big one hit wonder, even though FNM is fucking brilliant. Most people only know them by that song.

I never got the point at all, I just feel like there was some kind of misplacement. Okay that Dissection only made 2 albums and Storm of the lights bane sort of was the no. 1 album, but their material contributed so much to the scene.

i suppose he meant sotlb was very well known while the rest of dissection's production is not. considering that there is some confusion about the expression "one hit wonder", i can't say whether this qualifies or if it's even true/false. i've heard all their records, i own sotlb and i never really thought about what made them popular. in retrospect, maybe they're just overall known in the scene without too many highs or lows...

Being a FNM fan and been alive during their MTV era, Easy and Evidence
come to mind in a second, even before Epic, since they still play Easy at
times, even in the lame ass Nordic MTV.

(WTF ever happened to MTV, they used to be cool, now look at the
trendy little pussies.)

@salmy: when i was in finland, epic was on the radio every other hour. it was really amazing. i didn't get to hear easy once. but they give evidence plenty of airplay too.

I wouldn't know, I don't live in Finland, now do I? ;)

Actually I don't know if FNM should be counted on the basis of how much
they are played anyway, I don't think they should be concidered as
commercial, but of course back in the days of Epic MTV was still an OK
channel and of course getting fame then would result in airplay for later
singles, no matter what they are like.

If FNM singles would be given to MTV now, I doubt they would get much
airplay, except on that shit version of Alternative Nation they now play.

[rant]
God damnit, I fucking HATE MTV.
Ghhh, remember the beginning of Ferris Buelers Day Off?
When he turns on MTV and there a rock commercial on it with "MTV kicks
the shit out of you with rock n' roll, cos we are here to piss off your fucking
parents" attitude?

What the fuck happened to that MTV?

Now they show only these pseudo-intellectual artistic piece of shit
commercials that don't even advertice anything, WTF?

Not to even mention the fucking censuring of everything, I saw a piece
on some moron Eminem wannabe cursing on MTV News interview and on
top of the fucking bleeps, they also covered his mouth with this blurry
thing, WTF is that about, ever hear freedom of fucking speech?

Another thing I thought was fucking hilarious, on The Osbournes (Don't
even wanna start with that one) Ozzy was wearing some slacks around
the house and they were slipping and the top of his ass crack was showing,
well, it would have if there wouldn't have been a fucking blur on it, I mean
what are they saying here, Ozzy doesn't have an ass you can show on TV?
(don't get me wrong, I don't wanna see it...)

I don't see this protecting anyone, I mean everyone with half a brain knows
what these people say or which finger they are showing or whatever, so
why the fuck you need to go thru this hypocrisy.

I think I should start the "Rant of the day" thread I been thinking about...
[/rant]

Give me the fucking oxygen, I am pissed off now!

I'm 21, but Motorhead are one of the bands I grew up with. They're not one-hit wonders to me, but to many people my age as well as a few years older, they only know one or two Motorhead songs. Everyone's heard of the band, but the limit of their knowledge is often "Ace Of Spades" and Lemmy's wart.

wow, I've NEVER heard either of those on radio or on MTV.

There's an "alternative rock" station around here that's pretty cool, they play We Care A Lot from time to time.. \m/
