Nice work! You should be proud! Care to divulge your gear/methods? I have the Motu 2408 as well, and I use Sonar.
thank you!

this recording was done via firepod (as studio A isnt in operation yet)

the only mic used in the entire recording is the vocals, everything else is digital

my religion is cubase sx 3 and nuendo 3.2

i only use waves plugins, and a few others for effects (like distortion vocals)
pretty basic!

Yes yes yes... sounds really good. Nice playing too...
thanks, the band did a really good job, i gave them a great challenge during the production period. i really made them give it their all and make it extremely precise. everything is to metronome and dead on timing. out of all the 8 tracks or so, there's only a few minor mistakes on guitar that are getting left for cd, cuz we're running out of time, but they're not too bad.

i hope they get signed, we worked really hard on this record.

guitars = pod with diezel amp, condenser mic, treadplate cab, fx + eq boost (from upgrade pkg.), :-), EMG pickups, one esp ec-400 and one ibanez something or other

each guitarist only did a single take per song. so there's only 2 guitar tracks per song. there are a few special parts where harmonies are added, but we did no multi tracking to get tones. we got the tone with single take. there's no compression or reverb on the guitar tracks, just a touch of eq to make it fit.

btw, these guys are sponsored by krank, and madison... they have a lot of really good gear, and it all sounded thin and honky compared to the pod settings we had...

i guess i just suck at mic'ing guitar cabs

That's direct guitar!?! Good job, maaaan! The bass has a cool growl on the breakdown. Was that a bass pod? Drum details? I read your my space details. Your bands are really lucky to have you at those rates!
thanks, on a side note, was it http://www.myspace.com/foundationrecording that you read? because that is the studio site atm, a business that i started and the studio i run from day to day. but im starting another one (which is the foundation productions page)

anyways, yep direct guitar. the bass is through the same thing, a pod xt with bass upgrade purchased from line 6. it basically gives you the bass pod functionality within the pod xt (same software in the box n everything). i can't remember the combination of things i had to get that tone, but i know it was pick activated. if he picked lightly, there would be no growl on the tone. if he picked hard, the growl would grow. it worked great for the break downs and heavy parts. but sometimes i had to punch him in the head to make him play hard as f*ck.

i almost hate to say it, but the drums are DFHS. 6 days isnt enough time to make drums sound like this for this many songs. and on top of that, do all the guitars bass and vocals.... with writing involved during the process. oh well, they are amazed, and i am just happy with it.

but im booked solid from now till march of 2007, and 3 months of 2007 already booked for me (with little time to train someone else to run the other side).

things are lookin good here. we have zero overhead!

Are you nuts to offer $5 and $10 per song??? How can you afford food and heating??? :)
dude, you would think it would be impossible, but i figured out a way that makes it all work believe it or not

i've been living like a rapper for 2 years, its crazy haha

i have no bills, and no overhead... every bit of money i make is profit
