Whatever.
We already had a thread about this. The general feeling is one of low expectations and apathy.

Those 2 aren't going to be on the album anyway. Not as the songs they were 2 years ago, anyway.

I don't like the album title. Hopefully there's a concept somewhere along the line, and as such will make the name seem better. As of now, it doesn't make much sense.

Death Magnetic?
It's better than Load or St. Anger.
I think we should settle for "not entirely awful" at this stage of the game.

y.

More like Death Pathetic, amirite?

Honestly, if I can hear the bass on this album, that will be a step in the right direction in and of itself

Better than St. Anger, definitely. Better than Load? Not really. Neither of those were very good though, of course (although the album art did involve a guy's 'load', so it worked in that sense). But "Death Magnetic" is ridiculous, as it stands. "Death Magnet" or even "Magnetic Death" would make more sense - even if it would sound similar "Megadeth" at the point, which I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy about.

Indeed it is. The only Metallica I don't like is St. Anger, and that has it's merits too, I suppose (it's the album that got me into metal).

Load is a damn good hard rock album. It has some metal tingers, but it definitely isn't metal. Songs like Bleeding Me and King Nothing make that album great

Nothing wrong with 'the black album' at all. Although, as said, it's definitely not of the same caliber as it's predecessors. It could have been far better than it was if they had handled it differently - using Newsted's idea of keeping "My Friend of Misery" as an instrumental track, for instance.
