Anyone hear of this great band from Turkey that goes by the name Pentagram as well? They would be great for PP. Have a great sound and their new CD "Unspoken" kicks serious ass. Thanks to John Coyne for pointing it out!

They kick ass, but I haven't heard anything from them for over a year!! I have a VCD of a concert from Instanbul from a few years back, pretty bad ass material.

AMAZING band -- one of my favorites. Their previous disc, Pentagram - Anatolia, is one of my top 5 cds, ever.

P.S. Unspoken isn't too new... I think it was released in 2001 or 2002. They've released another album since then, under the band name "Pentagram", which is called Bir and is sung entirely in Turkish. Plus, check out the solo album of a guitarist named Cem Koksal... the disc is called Set Me Free, and it features Murat Ilkan from Mezarkabul on vocals. \m/

I can't pimp this band enough. :)

booB has covered it all. Likewise, both Anatolia and Unspoken rank very high in my all-time favourites list, regardless of genre. Anatolia is easily the best heavy metal album released in Turkey IMO.

I highly recommend their all-Turkish album Bir to Pentagram fans. The Cem Koksal album is also okay. booB, what do you think of Koksal's solo output?

I like Unspoken quite a bit... I gotta get a copy of Anatolia. I did some quick research, and apparently, they are still known as "Pentagram" in Turkey, but European and US pressings of their albums are released under the name "Mezarkabul", apparently to avoid copyright conflicts with a US doom metal band. In 2001, it seems they recorded 20 songs, and the english and instrumental songs were released as the Unspoken album (under the name Pentagram in Turkey, and under Mezarkabul elsewhere). The turkish songs were released as Bir, but only under the name Pentagram, because that disc was only released in Turkey. I guess Noise / Sanctuary felt the international appeal was limited for an album by an unknown band with all-turkish lyrics.

Trans-Siberian Outcast,

Check out Pentagram's Anatolia. It's a true masterpiece still untouched after ten years of its release. Yes, it's even better than Unspoken, IMO.

There's only a couple things I see missing on this thread. The band (as Pentagram) also have two other cds from 1990 that are called Pentagram and Trail Blazer. They also have an awesome, awesome, awesome live cd from 1998 called Popcular Disari... I REALLY like it. Been a fan for four years now. Love the Bir album as well. Anatolia has a bit of a different vibe from Unspoken - more doomy and atmospheric. But it's very very good and you can still tell it's the same band.

And by the way, Q, you do realize that John got all those Mezarkabul/Pentagram cds from me and then thought to play it for Steve, right? ;)

Oh yeah he did. He actually gave you full credit for that in the store last week. BTW those pictures at Graceland Cemetery you took were great! Thats right by my house. What did you think of it?

Trail Blazer does indeed slay... "No One Wins the Fight" is particularly choice... and it was even MORE awesome sung by Murat on Popcular Disari (sp?).
