Mic through a laptop live

As a singer and producer i dont see this as to far fetched for a local band today.

My band uses the laptop for backtracks and a click to our drummer onstage.
Why not run the mic through another interface and copy the automations from the songs.

I think this may sound tricky with all the different bpm's n shit. All the songs has to be inte same project aswell. But! this can change everything

Anyone got any experience with this or something similar?

A mic through a laptop? Hell no, first of all laptops need constant charging, and that makes a terrible noise on a sound cards output! I recommend a Macbook if you gonna try this! Their chargers are silent.

There are many pop artists that run an entire set through a pro tools session with all the bpms, automation, backing tracks all there and running.
