Michael Caine in my shop! Today!

Sure - entry level digital SLRs, you'll be looking at the Canon Eos 300d and the Nikon D70. My choice between the two is the D70, but there really isn't very much to split them, so it's worth trying both out to get a feel for them. If you already have lenses for either camera then stick with the system you already have, but if you're starting fresh then the D70's the one to go with. :)

When Bev was here I got her to help me buy a camera. We went to Harvey Norman, we spoke briefly to the guy behind the counter (basically Bev just asked him if he had a certain model), he said yeah, then Bev said to me, but mainly to him, "Maybe the nice man will do a deal for you" and then walked off. It was just like being served by a manager of the store who would then pass you to one of the underlings to finalise the transaction. :)

Shit, you must have been rapt when he walked in! That would have been amazing. He's one guy I'd like to meet.

What's the most megapixels generally available in digital cameras over there?

I love Michael Caine! When I was a kid he was my hero because I used to LOVE the movie The Eagle Has Landed haha. I'm actually reading it at the moment, what a coincidence lol.

He also ruled in Dressed To Kill, another of my favourite films.

Winny - The Canon Eos 1D is 11million pixels and has a full frame CCD (so the image sensor is the same size as a 35mm negative). It's a beauty, but for nearly £6000 it should be. :) Back on Planet Earth you can get a pro-sumer model for £600-£800 with 8million pixels BUT the CCD's are tiny and 8million pixels in such a tiny CCD can cause terrible 'noise' (like grain on film). :)

Gorey - are they autofocus? If so Pentax make the *istD (what a stupid fucking name  ) - it's a 6 million pixels digital SLR, it sells over here for around £1100. It's very small which is great and if you're already using Pentax autofocus bodies you should find the interface very easy and intuitive to use. If you're lenses are manual focus then definately go with the Nikon. :)

Ah cool, well it seems like you're a bit ahead of us over there (just for a change.....fucking Kappa clothes took off over here about 4 year after they did in the UK). The most I've seen here is perhaps 6m, not that I know too much about digital cameras anyway. I'll stick with my SLR till I've got some spare dosh lying around!

Dude, you rock, awesome film and an even greater book \m/

How awesome is the bit in the film where Donald Sutherland beats up the guy in the churchyard....

There is a sequel to the book as well, don't remember what it was called, has Eagle in there somewhere I am sure.. i seem to remember it was good but I don't recall exactly what it was about. Hunt it down if you can.

*see Blitzy, someone shares my taste in movies*

It rocks :headbang: Donald Sutherland is great in it!

The book rules coz it has so much extra stuff they left out of the film. Like the subplots with Liam getting the army trucks and the police after him, Steiner's dad being held prisoner, etc.
