Mic'ing up old Peavey Vypr 75 modeling combo amp yields surprising results...

Nice tone, however in the ultra gated sections it sounds like you've edited the silence between chugs out and not added fades, so there's little pops all over the place :p

that's more of an editing issue than a tone one though :)

Editing issue or not, it's still a valid critique on the mix. I did add fades to every chopped up region, but perhaps the fades were too short? I suppose I will have to do some experimenting...thanks for the comment!

hahaha shit that's fucking brutal as fuck.

was it the vypyr 75 tube combo? I fucking LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE that thing.

Best modeler for metal, IMO

It is very heavy doc, I like the super thightness, also the guitar tone is a little too dark for my taste but it doesnt sound bad at all. Did you use the stock pickups on your gibson? Definitely reminds me of a sturgis mix.

That's fact, my friend ;)

this is pretty cool though, i'm thinking of getting me one of the tube versions for something to keep in the bedroom for jamming and quick guitar tracks. i'd like to hear something DI from this, seeing as how the amp features an interface as well.

Guitar sounds really artificial but it is kinda unique and I think there is always a place for different styles whether I enjoy them or not. I find the gating is a bit abrubt in some spots though and I think given the style you are going for here more bass would be good.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it is much appreciated. I agree with the ones who believe it sounds pretty artificial what with all the abrupt cuts and everything. I was going for that mechanical sound!

Nah, this was not the tube-version of the Vypyr. To the best of my knowledge the 75 doesn't come in tube-form, but I know the 60 does.

Yessir, never bothered to switch em out for anything else. I still think they sound pretty great!

I think I might just re-amp this little jingle with the USB interface in order to compare!
