What kind of pop filter do most of you guys use for metal vocals? I see the Stedman ones are highly rated, but was wondering if it is really worth the $50? Or should I just go cheapy pop filter?

I like the Stedman (or any metal filter) because it's easy to clean. Most metal singers tend to leave a light coating of Taco Bell and beer on the pop filter, so it's nice to be able to grab a Lysol wipe and take care of it.

Plus, it'll last much long than a nylon/foam filter, so you spend more up front but you won't have to replace it as much.

Haha, yea I never thought of the cleaning part of it! I'll probably end of going with the Stedman anyways. I just recently noticed that you were on here Cory, about a few weeks ago. I don't know if you remember me talking to you about mixing and mastering our stuff through emails. I'm getting close to tracking some guitars! hehe.

I have a Rode pop filter that I got because it's a bit larger and looks cooler

I did notice though, that as metal pop filters work by redirecting air that comes through them on other directions than the microphone, the Rode pop filter doesn't seem to be doing this as efficiently as regular metal pop filters, which is weird as fuck. Haven't they realized what pop filters are used for??

I'm planning to get a basic metal pop filter next.

When blowing into a pop filter, having your hand on the other side, you shouldn't feel almost any air at all.
