I've seen it mentioned a few times, but never with a definitive answer... There's just a lot of general weirdness when importing Guitar Pro-created MIDIs into Sonar. Not sure about other DAWs. I'm tracking keyboards with Absynth 5, using the MIDIs as a reference, and my fucking settings keep getting changed when I play back certain parts! Usually the volume/panning in Absynth... And in Kontakt, when the piano comes in it resets the "chord" knob on the earlier choirs (different channel), making them play garbage. The parts I record in Sonar are fine, but the reference MIDIs are not. I've already deleted all non-note events on those tracks and it keeps happening. I can't even find the settings that are being changed sometimes. Between that and the stuck keys/vibratos when stopping playback.... I'm going nuts here.

If I understand your problem correctly, there was a post on this over at the Sonar forum a couple of days ago. Sorry I can't find it now, but it had to do with some setting that needed to be changed in Sonar.

By the way, I take it you are another Seinfeld fan!

Haha yes, definitely one of my favorite shows. For now I've just deleted the imported MIDIs and am replaying/reprogramming the parts in Sonar... If there's an easier way I'd love to know! I could never use the piano roll as fast as Guitar Pro.

Guitar Pro embeds CC commands into the Midi File. What happens is if you choose a sound in Absynth, as soon as you start to play the file the Midi file sends a CC command to change it to whatever program number you programmed it in within Guitar Pro .....

Best solution.... Dont use a pice of trash like Guitar pro to write MIDI. Do it on the Piano Roll in Sonar.

Same thing happens in Reaper, importing midi that has been written in Guitar Pro is hell when you want to use it with at least a half decent VSTi.

Right, right. I think I got all the commands deleted now... Just needed to open the event manager and hide all note, aftertouch and pitch wheel events - and important - "show cropped." Then delete everything you see.

Guitar Pro is a sloppily coded and generally kinda shitty program, but the actual interface for entering data is unmatched in my experience. I can do ok with Sonar's step recording and a midi keyboard, but it's not good for rhythmically complex parts.
