MIDI WITH ALESISD4 CUBASE SX3 AND DFH

Ok, guys really stupid question. I have an old Alesis d4, ezdrummer with dfh (the original) and cubase sx3. How do I use the note chase feature with d4 with cubase so when i hit a trigger it sends the info the d4 and gets recorded on cubase . thanks

Midi routed out to the d4 via midi cable ---> Into D4 midi in ----> audio cable out of D4 ----> into interface.

Hahahah yeah I figured that much. I guess my best bet is to plug it all in and firgure it all out as I go.
