I'm amazed that this hasn't been posted yet...

Mikael Akerfeldt has recorded vocals for a song entitled "Stockholm" due to be included in the upcoming, as of yet untitled OSI record. The song was recorded by David Castillo at Castillo sound studios. OSI is a project featuring Jim Matheos (Fates Warning) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, ex Dream Theater). Release date is yet to be confirmed but it will come out through the InsideOut/SPV imprint.

Hey guys!

In the middle of the N. American tour here.

For anyone interested I just wanted to confirm I have recorded vocals for a track due to be included on the forthcoming OSI record, as of yet untitled.
I was approached by Jim Matheos about the matter some time ago, and since I'm a fan of OSI I said "Sure"!

It's a very moody song and completely unlike anything I've ever done before. I wrote the lyrics and the vocal lines for the piece that I simply decided to call "Stockholm".

Don't know when it's going to be released, but it's coming out through Inside Out/SPV anyways...

OSI (Office of strategic influence) is a project led by Jim Matheos (Fates Warning) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, ex Dream Theater).

Cheers
Mike

OSI's a pretty cool band. I'll be getting that one!

They only have 2 albums. The first one, Office of strategic influence, was better than the second. Their singer sounds a ton like the guy from Nickleback but their music is quite cool and experimental.

It's Kevin Moore's (ex-Dream Theater keyboardist) project. On the first album, he and others sing on certain songs. I think Shut Down is the one Steven Wilson sings on, off that album.

It'll be interesting to hear Mikes take on their music. It's much different than Opeth.

OSI has some good tracks. The 2 albums are pretty solid and sometimes interesting to listen to. Im pretty pumped for the new one especially with Mike on it

Wow that's cool. OSI's first album was great. Deffinetly have to check out the new one with Mikael on it.

Memory Daydreams Lapses would be a good song to check out for anyone who doesn't know the band.

Btw will Mike Portnoy be playing drums on the new one as well? Does anyone know?

Wow, great news for OSI fans. I love the two albums they released, although the first one is much better.

IMHO Kevin Moore is very underated, but the guy can really make some great music. I have all of Chroma Keys works, and while they are a hard listen at times, I would have to say that CK is the best driving music to listen too for long trips.

Also I find Dream Theaters best song to be Space Dye Vest, written by Kevin.

Glad to hear OSI is back recording again!

No, it'll be the drummer of Porcupine Tree (Gavin Harrison).

I hear the resemblance to the guy from Nickleback. The Kevin dude sounds like a generic post-grunge / nu-metal singer, though it's masked pretty well by distortion and effects. Music's pretty good though!

Being a big DT fan since '88, I always liked Kevin Moore the most, compared to the other two keyboardists. Yes, technically, Rudess is better, but Moore's sound and solos seem to be more atmospheric, and have more feeling.

how fucking sweet is it that they replaced portnoy with gavin? i mean im a huge portnoy fan, but honestly, gavin harrison is the best drummer out there right now. fuckin great

+1 I completely agree with you! Kevins lyrics are also the best Dream Theater ever have had. I just love the lyrics for Only A Matter Of Time.

As to Portnoy vs. Harrison, I think they're both great great drummers. But Harrison probably fits OSI's style better.

Kevin's lyics are very introspective, and I seem to relate with them more. I like the few songs that Myung has written for Dt. He needs to write more!
