Although I am quite close I would like to hear any tips on getting that old Shrapnel tone on solos. How would you handle reverb/delay/other fx? Panning too.

Not interested in modern lead tones.

I know a guy here who has worked as an assistant for Varney for couple of years. He said even Andy Timmons records six tracks of rythym guitars. And Boss DS-1 is a so-called secret weapon I think. Modded or not, I don't know the details.

i produced and engineered records for Varney for several years... trust me.. nothing remotely like that was the norm.
