Well, in truth, not really. He got his Soldano power amp serviced, so it was biased correctly. It was only running at 50% input, so the sounds weren't getting as saturated as they should've been. Made the rig sound better right off.

I'd spent a bit more time messing around with mic positions. Decided to experiment more with backing the mic off the cab as opposed to having it right on the grille. Made the guitars sound ballsier and drier as opposed to more present and 'in-your-face' as they are in the track I'd just posted.

There's no magic fixes really. You have to use decent gear and treat every part of the process well. Tracking is crucial.
