Hi, my name is Brad and I am fairly new to the Sturgis forums. I've been recording for the last few years, mostly live recordings and punk bands. I'm trying to get that round polished guitar sound (think WCAR) and just can't seem to do it. They always come out sounding grainy. Any suggestions?

The clip below is my most recent try. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Poulin LE465 and the Poulin cab simulator. The drums are superior and the bass is a dimension midi with ampeg vst.

Thanks guys!

nice to meet you, brad!

first - play around with your guitar tone for about 3 more years 'til you find the tone you're looking for.

second - spend about 1-2 more years collecting information regarding the principals of digital audio production.

third - go to the forum toolbar (on top of the page) -third link from the right- and Search for over 100 past entries regarding that exact guitar tone.

easy-peesy! ;)

I'm not asking for the exact tone because I don't want the pod farm sound. What i feel is lacking in the mix is the high end roundness. The high end sounds more like static than highs if you know what i mean. is that a high end roll off eq, a comp thing, lowering presence on the amp...?

As Tim said, the only way you're gonna actually learn how to do it is spend a few years sucking majorly at it, reading the Sneap forums past threads and making gradual, tiny improvements. That's literally the way virtually everyone here does it.

Play around with the low pass filter. If it has too much high end try setting it at 9KHz. Also try messing around with the Presence and treble.
