MLB

Royals and Diamondbacks fan here.

The Royals would have a better record if they didn't pitch Farnsworth as a set-up guy. The D-Backs just need some offense and some better pitching while Webb is on the DL.

Zambrano is overrated and overpayed. He has no consistency. This year he's starting off like shit. So its not even a case of pitching half the season as an allstar, and the other half as 5th man at best.

Harden and Dempster haven't been very impressive so far. Compared to how the Braves starting rotation has pitched, there is no real comparison. Braves are better. Braves have the best starting rotation in their division. Innings 1-6 they have the 5th best team ERA. Now they just need to get some runs.

This is laughable. I encourage you to look at highest win totals by starting pitchers since, say, 2003. Maybe you recognize a few on the list: Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt, and Carlos Zambrano. And considering the job of a starting pitcher is to put his team in a position to win the game, I'd say your analysis is pretty much a joke.

And...you seriously wanna base your thoughts on Cubs rotation vs Braves rotation on the first 2 weeks of the season? Really? No real comparison? Dude you should go work for ESPN cuz that typical of the bs they spew.

Perhaps... but how many World Series did those dominant Braves teams of the 90's win? If we are gonna talk choking...

Agreed they did choke but they did win one world series. I wish the Cubs luck especially against the Dodgers.

go Yanks! :D

Just got home from seeing the Yankee's last week. Wanted to be at the first season game at the new digs but tickets were out of our range, so we setled for the second game. The new Stadium is just gorgeous.

I will say that sitting in a Pub on Saturday and watching the game.....you remember....the one with the Football score..... I sure was glad we went on Friday and at least got one of the winning games in the split series.

I can't wait to get over to the new stadium. I have tickets to a party suite for the end of August I can't wait that long :)

I'll also be checking out the new CitiField this weekend so that should be cool.

Man, If I were a Cubs fan that'd be right on the top of my list of things NOT to do... call anybody out on choking? Really?

after 100 years of misery....
And that beautiful game 6 against the Marlins... Can't forget that :heh:

I got some crappy seats at fenway a couple years ago for about 70 bucks each... It was a great game! :)
The sox were down 6 - nothing in the 9th... and they won 7-6... The place was rocking.

I was at a similar game here once....Braves scored 7 runs or so and won it in the bottom of the ninth. At the time it was their biggest ninth-inning surprise comeback ever! :worship:

Well, they actually won two. :)

Who can forget that amazing World Series with the Twins, where a few bad calls -- admittedly tough calls -- cost the Braves the Series?

I'll root for the Braves first because, well, heck, they're right here. The second team I'll root for nowadays is the Cubbies, because they have the most patient fans in the world -- really, for ANY professional sport -- and those fans deserve a good season. :kickass:

Cubs have had a number of good seasons in recent years. Just poor playoff appearances. Shit happens.

Zambrano had a good stretch there from I think 2004-2006 when he was pitching excellent. From 2007-2008 he pitched amazing one half of the season, but not so great the other half, and has ended up with a good but not great ERA of ~4. A great year is sub 3.5, which he had from 2004-2006. I really hope he gets out of his slump, because I love watching him throw.

I actually wanted to ask you... I have two extras for RedSox x Yanks at Fenway later this year. They were a gift from my boss. Would you be interested in one of them? I promise I won't get you in trouble there...

Yes, really. Sorry but I'm not the one responsible for the Cubs world series drought. Their choking/sucking over 100 years doesn't mean I, as a baseball fan, cannot also comment on/critique other teams.

Uh, do you even really have to ask? Depends on when it is, but of course I'd be interested. Only game I've been to at Fenway was a Yanks vs Sox game and I had box seats and the game was a total blowout (in our favor). Good times :D

How true, real fans are not the reason a club chokes, it is the fans that are there come hell or high water, and critiquing an opposing team is part of being a die-hard fan, and is fun between fans, unless you are a Yankee or Red Sox fan then it is life or death.

I'll let you know the exact date as soon as I get home tonight. It's a Saturday, I believe. You can stay over till Sunday if you'd like. It'll be nice to see the Sox kill the Yanks at Fenway with you there.

Of course you can comment on whatever you want... You just have to agree that it's really funny to see a Cubs fan giving anyone a hard time about choking... not only because of the drought, but considering the recent playoff history....
