Modern Rock Bands?

Depends on what you want to hear. I've recently been discovering a ton of good stuff, like Escape the Fate. Musicianship is finally beginning to matter again in popular heavy music.

I actually found this band because they're signed to Earache of all labels, but Rival Sons are pretty good. Their sound isn't my thing usually, but they do it very well.

Like adaher said, it all depends on what you're looking for.

This is probably my favorite band going right now.

Like originally, I was looking for 90s/2000s "Contemporary Hard Rock" stuff as Rhapsody seems to put it. Your Third Eye Blind, Eve 6 (1st album was awesome), Matchbox 20 (again 1st album here), old 3 doors down, just to name a few off the top of my head.. just waking up here.

Lately Ive found one band who again, put out a killer first album...second one not so much, with some decent songs on it though,... but I blame that on a change of producer.

I'm also into the Wolfmother kind of sound but its not like I want to dive into the indie/pop/commercial (not saying they are.. more related) scene to much only cause so much it is generic.

This band toured with ACDC but that only really happened because of the producer relationship in my theory.

There are so many good retro-minded rock bands. Airbourne, The Answer, Charm City Devils, BatRacers, Endeverafter, Pride Tiger, Parlor Mob, Stone Rider, Poets & Pornstars and Sex Slaves to name a few. Expand that to the Swedish sleaze rock scene and you've got a lot of great rock to choose from.

Now see I've only heard of the first two bands there... I got to do some research on youtube later

Have you listened to Black Country Communion at all? Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, Derek Sherinian, and Joe Bonamassa. The record they put out this year is pretty damn good.

Maybe you ignored them for years like I did, but The White Stripes put out some of the best rock albums of the 00's. Could be a bit too garage-y for your taste, but damn, quality records.

The Sword has ventured over into the hard rock camp but still has a good bit of doom going on.

Black Lips are an Atlanta band with a total hipster following, but don't let that fool you. Their live shows are just...insane. Worth a listen, anyway.

.

I've gotten into BCC quite recently, maybe a few months ago. Really dig that sound. I also like The White Stripes & Jack White but not as much as Wolfmother.

Dunno about the rest.

I daresay that Daughtry was one band that I've been increasingly impressed with over the years. Sure schmaltzy in spots, but dude can sing, his band are adequate players, and he writes great song melodies, which are, if not totally original, very memorable. Otherwise, damn, I'm out of the loop on modern rock that's not of a various metal offshoot.
