Right guys I need some advice here im looking to upgrade my monitors im currently working on yamaha hs50m's and im finding the lack of low mid detail and complete lack of bass is killing me.
I was just going to add a sub to fill in the hole in the bass department but still doesent solve the problem in the low mids.
Im looking at:
1. The bigger brother hs80m (which has some very good reviews) (424 pair from dv247)
2. Adam A7 supposedly great detail in the mids and great stereo imaging and transient response but lacking in the bass department so would need to add a sub so it becomes a lot of $$$$$ (779 pair dv247)
The selling points for me for the yamaha are 1. its a lot cheaper 2. im used to working on yamaha 3. the bass extension should be enough for my needs
The downside of the yamaha is ear fatigue because of the forward mids and I tend to spend a long time on single mix sessions and even with the small hs50m I get fatigued after about the 2 hour mark and need a break, I would expect this to be even worse on the larger hs80m. This is a big problem on long tracking sessions as i like to at least try and get the source as good as I can get it.
How do you guys find the above two monitors I know they are quite popular models with a lot of people here and on gearslutz.
Feel free to suggest alternative models that you think are great in my price range (<=1,000 euros)
Oh and my current mixing room is treated with some homemade broadband absorbers and im planning on adding more.
