Anybody Remember this band I have a cd of theirs Monks of the high lord or some shit like that Its really Heavy and really Religous ..... its a toss up whether they are any good or not I jus wanna see If I'm the only one who remembers them

Not sure if you just made a spelling error with the band name or not but I do know a band called MORTIFICATION that are a christian Death Metal band from Australia. I like them quite a bit but seem to be in the minority since their beliefs scare a lot of people off. I don´t really care about bands beliefs much. I´ve got every release of theirs but do not recognize the one you have mentioned.

They are from Melbourne. I've seen then alot of times live but I don't like them (not into death metal stuff). They always play really early on the bill at local metal shows around here supporting other local bands, which is weird because they have been around alot longer and put out alot more albums. Nobody really cares about them here though, they always play to an empty room while everyone's at the bar getting drunk waiting for the other bands to start.

Their singer battled cancer years ago and got through it but now uses a walking stick, even to get on and off stage. But not when he's playing.

Trooper I knew I would catch you attention with this thread that sucks that nobody really likes them there lol the guys cant even catch a brake in their own country lol

I think their problem is that most death metal fans are scared off by their religious content. Personally I don't care about religious content (I love Stryper and Holy Soldier) but I don't like death metal, I go for the melodic bands as I'm more of a hard rock fan. I think if they wanted to be more popular, they have two choices. Either keep playing death metal but drop the preaching because apart from black metal freaks, death metal fans are least likely to accept Christian content in their music.... or lighten up their music and try to appeal to a more traditional metal audience who won't care as much if they are religious or not.

Personally I like a lil of everything from the Heavy Metal Table I can go from listening to Stryper to listening to Six Feet Under with out skipping a beat its all Metal to me and I'm Happy there is such rich variety :p anyway .... I think they are prolly doomed carear wise lol Though your right if they did mellow out they wouldnt have to compromise their beliefs to gain sucsess

"Blood World" is actually one of my least favourite albums. I prefer the first 4 releases which have better vocals.

On the topic of MORTIFICATION I thought I would mention that the mainman (Steve Rowe) behind the band was previously in a band called LIGHTFORCE. They´re Traditional / Speed Metal and might appeal to some of you here. You can get both their recordings on one CD through Steve´s label Rowe Productions. He´s done a really good job with this.
