"Emotionally jarring", eh? Well, I know it'll sound silly in light of the abovementioned Irreversible and fake snuff movies, but the opening sequence to Cliffhanger still horrifies me. Even the old man Frank's absurd grinning does not detract from its disturbing intensity.
