"...it's missing!"
Alot of bands are focusing on more disturbing lyrical content. What do you think would have to be the most disturbing lyrics in a song. Naturally anything Scott Hull from Pig Destroyer writes is disturbing, but the most would definetly have to be Cryptopsy's "Pathological Frolic".

one day when i came home at lunchtime,
i heard a funny noise
went out to the back yard to find out if it was,
one of those rowdy boys.
stood there with my neighbour called peter,
and a Flux Capacitor.

he told me he built a time machine
like the one in a film i've seen,
yeah yeah... he said...

i've been to the year three thousand
not much has changed but they lived under water,
and your great great great grand daughter,
is pretty fine (is pretty fine)

he took me to the future in the flux thing and i saw everything,
boybands and another one and another one ... and another one!
triple breasted women swim around town... totally naked!

we drove round in a time machine,
like the one in the film i've seen..
yeah yeah... he said...

i've been to the year three thousand
not much has changed but they lived under water,
and your great great great grand daughter,
is pretty fine (is pretty fine)

i took a trip to the yeah 3 thousand
this song had gone multi platinum,
everybody brought our 7th album.
it had outsold michael jackson,
i took a trip to the yeah 3 thousand
this song had gone multi platinum,
everybody brought our 7th album, 7th album.

he told me he built a time machine
like the one in a film i've seen,
yeah yeah... he said...

-Busted, year 3000

Claws Of Laughter Dead

Ride the wind
My aggressions mirrored themselves in her eyes
As the blade was ripping up her insides

Her eyes
Stabbing and stabbing
My love fell dead to the floor (she's not alive anymore)
Together with sheds of my sanity
Dead in the absence of agony

She's still here with me
As Hell turns to ice

Her dead eyes staring deep into my soul
Into the carved out hole
Sweeping forth, The wind without no name

My mind is raped by insanity

Now her blood flows in my veins
Her heart beats in my chest
Her voice screams within my mind
The wind without no name

Ride the wind

Now time itself touches my soul
It's ice cold breath in my ear
Oh, "God" I'm sorry, I lost control
I slayed love disguised as fear

The fire still burns within my soul
No wind to put it out

Now time itself touches my soul
It's ice cold breeath in my ear
Oh, "God" I'm sorry, I lost control
I slayed love disguised as fear

Many Cannibal Corpse songs have really disturbing lyrics. Some Suffocation songs have pretty disturbing lyrics too (look at my sig); Merital Decimation on Breeding The Spawn has disturbing lyrics too (it's about a guy who kills his wife and cannibalizes her).

"Come on baby
dont be lazy
please come back to me
and set me free
together we will make it right
through day and night"

well, something like this disturbs me.
every teenie pop singer comes up with the exact same lines (at least over here in germany, where no one would understand what you're singing if you would incorporate somewhat less ordinary expressions in the lyrics). :yuk:

As everyone is posting the lyrics of the songs, I'll post my choice:

Pathological Frolic

Who is this Geoffrey?
All I see is this cold cadaver
Why is this Geoffrey
lying in puddles of pus on a gurney?
Tell me of this Geoffrey,
this boy with a noose around his neck;
More about Geoffrey:
why is he wearing his mother's bra?

How old was Geoffrey?
At a guess, I'd say
about twelve or thirteen;
He died accidentally
from auto-erotic asphyxiation;
He'd been masturbating...
our little stiff still has one on
and it's been one week!

The resurrection men
took their sweet time
Cross-dressed fruit:
what a way to die!
Now he's ours:
the apple of our eve;

Fetch the dead sphincter:
cold green meat
How did his ass taste?
Tender and sweet...

And then we fucked it...

Anything by Acid Bath. The stream of consciousness thing is really freaky. Songs like Jezebel, Bleed Me an Ocean, Scream of the Butterfly, etc. Really freaky stuff. Dax Riggs is a true poet.

The gore stuff never bothered me, it was more the psychotic internal torment stuff, like Acid Bath, Invocator (especially on Excursion Demise), Pig Destroyer, The Red Chord.

Though Carcass have some really good fucked up gore stuff as well as not so gorey stuff.

Cattle Decapitation sings about the glories of being a vegan and the evils of eating meat- now that is fucking disturbing.

Desecration lyrics are fucking vile, as well as anything by scott hull so yeah, Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Pig Destroyer. Who's got prowler in the yard? if so have you listened to that sick, weird talking at the start and the end? heh

The Lord shall endure forever
For he hath prepared his throne for judgment
And they that know thy name will put thy trust in thee
For thou Lord have not forsaken those that seek thee

I will praise thee O Lord
I will sing praise in they name
Don't forget the cry of the humble
Have mercy on me

Put them in fear O Lord
That the nations may know
Let them realize they are just men, just men

Thou hast rebuked the HEATHEN
Thou hast destroyed the wicked
Won't forget the cry of the humble
Have mercy on me

Put them in fear O Lord
That the nations may know
Let them realize they are just men, just men

The Lord shall endure forever
For he hath prepared his throne for judgment
And they that know thy name will put thy trust in thee
For thou Lord have not forsaken those that seek thee

Put them in fear O Lord
That the nations may know
Let them realize they are just men, just men

The Lord will be a refuge
For the oppressed
A refuge in times of trouble

We are not holy men
But at least we try
Try to serve as best we can
Sometimes I'd like to die
Why must you be so angry
Treat each other wrong
The poor will not be forgotten
God loves us all

And most other preachy christian metal bands.

Gore lyrics are intrinsically disturbing; that much is undeniable to any human being with an awareness of morality. Taken in context though (the context of the musical genre) they are completely meaningless and inneffectual. The traditional gore lyric has been so overused, recycled, restated and regurgitated by so many different songs by so many different bands that the whole thing has hopelessly surpassed even cliche. And because no-one can really read a gore-lyric and appreciate it by itself, given the expansive and 'similar' nature of other such bands, songs, and lyrics, intrinsic meaning doesn't really exist either.

It's just like 'waaazzzzzuppp!'. It literally does not mean anything anymore because its been so used and abused. It can mean anything and nothing, and has no relevance to its original source and incarnation.

So, imo, gore lyrics suck, and are about the only thing that holds-back the death metal genre. It's a real shame.

I'll think a bit over lyrics that i've genuinely found innovative or disturbing though.

Yeah! Definitely Acid Bath. It's real pyschosis as opposed to B movie horror stuff.

The gore lyrics and stuff don't really bother me much. Fantasy lyrics aren't bad either. Yeah there are some serial killers out there that probably can relate personally with the gore stuff, but once in a while bands will hit on a subject that gets kind of spooky because though the song might be based on something fictitional, some of the lyrics can be related to reality and make you think.

In my signature, Andy from Vanden Plas talks about winning the final war and he sings it with such emotion. It's like he's talking about a holocaust. The song is pretty far fetched with it's lyrical content, but "win the final war" in the context and style it is sang and played in is pretty freaky.
