Well, you could apply that to Adam Sandler too. And perhaps Martin Lawrence. But Adam Sandler just plays himself in everything he does.

Actually, as serious acting goes, Jim Carey is probably the best actor in this poll.

yeah, adam sandler is a fucking joke. talk about lucky.
dunno much about the lawrence dude. black comedy simply is not funny. nor is anything linked to cultural stereotypes. i mean, how many times can that be done?

you forgot BEN STILLER

zoolander was good, but i swear it's the only role he's ever done where he doesn't play a neurotic, pale woody allen imitation. meet the parents was funny the first couple times, now it's old and i don't like ben stiller anymore.

and whoever mentioned dave chappelle, no yuo. dave chappelle is hilarious and i'll never repent even though i'm pretty sure i'm the only person here who thinks so.

i agree with the eugene levy comment, i think he's a good actor, just tragically misused...i dunno why he agrees to be in all this crap, he's really good in the two movies mentioned

ah yes. best in show. good mention. the two gay characters owned that movie though.

cable guy is really underrated. it was so wierd and creepy. shit! i just remembered i took my wife to see it on one of our first dates. maybe THE first. what a dumb ass.

I rememeber when Martin Lawrence hosted SNL, his monologue was like a 10 minute standup routine about how women need to douche more.

It was quite possibly the most unfunny thing I've ever witnessed, and I've counted the cottage cheese on the ceiling on more than once occasion.

Kevin Hart.

I'm actually not that familiar with Steve Martin's older stuff, but I've enjoyed him in what I've seen. Eugene Levy is always a side character. Carrey and Sandler both had some gems in the 90s that I'm probably partial to because of my age but that may not stand up as well today. I liked Martin Lawrence in "Blue Streak" and "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins" but not in "Big Momma's House."

I didn't know who Peter Sellers was until recently when I watched "Dr. Strangelove" but he was great. I need to watch more old movies. My wife and I went through a phase of watching classic Hollywood for awhile and it was fun. Not comedic, but I enjoyed the Gary Cooper movies.

Loved Schitt's Creek. Took a few episodes for it to sink in.

No problem with Eugene Levy and Steve Martin. They're mild, I guess, but comedy doesn't always have to be overly clever and edgy to be enjoyable.
