Mouth of the Architect - Time & Withering
Consisting of ex-members of Rune, Dayton, Ohio's Mouth of the Architect present their debut four song, 40-minute full length entitled TIME AND WITHERING. Imagine the melodic essence of Mogwai and Godspeed You Black Emperor! combined with the down-tuned heaviness of Isis and Sunn O))).

Its just WRONG that I just now found out about this band.

So . . . I'm sitting on the shitter reading Decibel Magazine (year-end issue), and I come across this ad in the front of the magazine. After reading the description of the band, I proceed to immediatelysqueeze off the last few ounces of last nights cornbread. Following a thorough wipey-wipey, I head for the computer and check out www.traslationloss.com (website for Translation Loss Records). To make a long story short . . . here's the mp3 I listened to http://www.translationloss.com/music/mouth_worm.mp3.

Oh . . . Relapse has the CD for $10.

From Dayton, well fuck me, I lived in that cesspool for two years and I never heard of them. I guess living in Dayton would cause one to put out such an album of heaviness.

But yeah, sounds damn good. Thanks for sharing man.

Speaking of Isis, I dont know if anyone has the Buzzsaw EP, but it has a killer rendition of Streetcleaner, and the song House of Low Culture is just hauntingly good.

I just got this CD today, and, despite my misspelling in the title of this thread, Mouth of the Architect is AWESOME. I will definitely be reviewing this. Wow! I wish I had this earlier this year; it would have done some major damage to my top 25 list.

More later . . .

OK, my hails go out to Nate. I really like this. Reminds me most of Pelican with sparce vocals thrown in ala Isis. THanks dude.

They sound a lot like Isis to me. Maybe if I was more into whatever genre this is, I'd be more aware of the subtle differences. I think I'll just stick with my Isis CDs whenever I want this kind of vibe.

It's amazing that Transmission0 and Isis get mentioned in the same thread discussion. I've heard both, and yet I couldn't sit through the Transmission0.

NAD - why not review Transmission0 now, I gave it to you when were in NY!

*off to write my reviews*

Well hey, even a guru like you can't be right all the time JK :loco:
I know fans of Isis won't necessarily all love this, but it's not that far off, genre-wise. I like the Momentary Lapse of Reason-style clean vocals.

Cult of Luna is old news, but I don't remember seeing them discussed here very often. Fans?

Cult of Luna is pretty good, but I always reach for Neurosis and Isis first. Based on the two listens of Mouth of the Architect, I'd say MotA is better than CoL. Of course, CoL have 3 albums, whereas MotA has only 1
