I have moved this thread because "Production" is probably the wrong section.

I have an ECM8000 (omni) and a Superlux tube condenser (neumann clone).
Do you think I can get a decent drums ambience sound out of them?
How can I place them?
My first idea was to buy another ecm8000, place the Superlux in front of the kit (center, 2 meters far from the kit) and the 2 ecm8000 left and right, equidistant from the superlux.
But with only one ecm8000 where can I place them?

Hm, I have an ecm8000 but I've never recorded anything with it. I'm not a fan of mono room tracks as they tend to make everything more mono and often muddy. Probably the best thing you could do is experiment with a few different positions and if it doesn't work there are always decent room impulses.

And for example, if I use spaced pair mics? ecm8000 left and Superlux right (each one in Omni pattern)?
Which do you think is better for room? Cardioid or Omni?
