Yes, but no more than any other national/international music video channel. In fact I don't think there is even a major radio station around that doesn't suck monkey balls. Internet or otherwise. Let me go one step further and say that it's even hard to produce a metal E-zine that doesn't suck major balls when all the labels put out now is either rap vox, cookie monster vox, or squeaky clean power metal vox. Until metal returns to being the truly innovative & always fresh style it once was, everything will suck ass but a few rare bands/albums here and there.

They do what they attempt to do well, give popular music to the masses. So I don't think they suck. I disagree with their image and the music they play but they are doing a fine job of what they intend to do. It would be childish to say that they are bad, shitty ect...

MTV was good, when it had singled out, beavis and butthed, and all those other shows. I cant stand the shows like real world, wrestling stuff, road rules and all that crap. Oh and actually played music videos, if they do show music videos now its just some rap shit. I mean why do they need rap ? Thats what BET is for, keep the rhyming for retards to that channel.....

MTV is just as bad as any mainstream channel/radio station in this day and age. Bullshit. Most people are morons. They like crap fashionable stuff. That's why metal is an underground genre. People with more intelligence realise it's greatness, and there aren't many people around with intelligence...

yes, it does suck. HOWEVER!!! mtv2 does have an extreme rock show that plays some great shit. bands like arch enemy, soilwork, slayer, superjoint ritual, lamb of god, manowar, inflames...
the extreme rock show is on monday-thursday. check your local listings for times

A role model to mankind:
I've gotten used to turn to Mtv everytime I turn on the tele, but I've come to realise that I never see anything good. I think it springs from when I also listened a little to house/trip hop and other more mainstream nowadays stuff, as I sometimes catched some good stuff on Mtv, but as I now never listen to any new stuff besides metal and a few things that certainly wouldn't get played on Mtv either it's basically a waste of time turning the tele to Mtv, but I can't help it. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it. If Mtv dissapered from our cable network I wouldn't cry my ass off. I used to have my radio tuned to a station called P3 where they play rock and other popular crap songs. I've now turned it to a station called "ANR Guld (Danish for gold) FM", as they play old stuff (but unfortunatly also a lot of crap) and I don't turn to P3 anymore. I did often in the beginning but don't anymore. My stereo is a "one push" or whatever it's called, so if I just press "tuner" the stereo turns on the tuner and the rest of the stereo.
And anyway, as I listen to stuff from the 60's & 70's Mtv is kind of indifferent as there aren't many music videos from that period anyway. The metal I listen to is mostly black metal and besides not having that many videos, they wouldn't get showed on a metal show anyway I guess. Videos aren't much fun anyways as I've said before in another thread.
The thing I like about Mtv though, is that "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child got showed a lot when it was a hit and it's worth having the channel only for that video 'cause Beyonce is so goddamn fucking hot in that video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the only thing Mtv does for me now is show me some nice chicks sometimes.

MTV sucks, why?
Not just because the music sucks, that's a given.
But they constantly brag about a lack of censorship when they honestly have one of the worst cases of censorship on all of netwrok television, and the sad thing is, their mindless sheep followers actually BELIEVE it!
