Hey all

Hopin anyone with more tech experience than me could help me with an amp/sound clarity problem.

I use a Marshall AVT 100 (Hybrib ofcourse-cos im cheap). It sounds fine, even awsome when its only turned to 5, but when i turn up to 7+, like when i try jamin with mates, i get an extreme loss in clarity, shrill highs and muggy lows. Would this be mainly due to the "Hybrid" nature of the amp or the stock J170 pickup in my Jackson PS-2?

I realy hope its the pup, cos i only bought the amp a couple months ago before i started jamin......now im starting to have second thoughts, i even knew that tube amps perform better up loud

Anyway, thanx for any replys. all help greatly appreciated

Keep it real

I dont think it's the PU. if it was a PU-problem, it would also be present at low volumes.

I also think its because of the solid-state-thing.
I have a little 30W Marshall G30RCD (solid state) that sounds good untill i turn it up more than a little over half (master-volume). then it starts sounding really bad and muddy (without any more gain in volume).

best (but expensive) thing i can tell you is: buy a tube amp ;)
