what are some that you have listened to that are just plain genious or creative..

maybe post some quotes.....

Ive been listening to a lot of death lately..... They allways have a killer album to throw in.

such as the Dreaming neon black concept. or some of the material off of death's symbolic album.

here is some lyrics from deaths symbolic album
there are many songs on this album like this
simple but good..

1,000 eyes

Crossing the line into the other side
Emerging as prisoners
To the emptiness of time

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes

Was it overlooked in front of all our faces?
Now, all the mistakes and secrets
Cannot be erased

Viewing the blind complexity
By which laws were justified
To erase simplicity

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

We are enslaved now...

ah fuck it, I'll just make an EDUCATIONAL post based on all criteria of interesting conceptual works.

Allerseelen - Gotos = Kalanda
Genre: Industrial

This very low-production industrial album from Allerseelen focuses on a poem cycle based on the twelve months of the year called "Gotos = Kalanda" by early 20th century German rune initiate Karl Maria Wiligut. While fairly underdeveloped musically (indeed, Kadmon re-recorded many of the songs again for later albums with better production) and anyone who doesn't like industrial music very much would be sure to hate it, it IS extremely interesting for the occult element.

Belborn & Rose Rovine E Amanti - Grain

Genre: Neo-Folk

This was just released this year, but I like the concept that it's advertised as (It's pretty decent as a folk album too):

"Grain is very powerful and well known symbol all over the world. It stands for life, fertility, love and renewal. Its spiritual strenght is very present in Christianity and Paganism. Despite different beliefs, two great neo-folk acts - German Belborn and Italian Rose Rovine E Amanti are united in idea of grain, a something new has arisen. A split of 13 rare, unpublished and brand new tracks, 54 minutes of outstanding music. CD in digipack. "

Burzum - Hliðskjálf

Genre: Ambient

Varg Vikernes did a great job of creating soundscapes to go along to stories in Germanic myth, which are narrated in the liner notes. Best read together with listening for full enjoyment.

Cold Fusion - Occupatria

Genre: Martial Industrial

The soundtrack to living in an occupied fatherland. Harsh military ambient, industrial.

Empyrium - Weiland

Genre: Neo-Folk

Weiland is split into three chapters, each to pay homage to a specific nature mystics: Moorland, Forest, and Water. The music is really cool too.

Fields Of The Nephilim - Elizium

Genre: Gothic Rock

I have no idea what this album is really about, but I better add it in anyway because it RULES. Something about finding "some kind of heaven".

Lux Occulta - Forever Alone. Immortal.
Genre: Black Metal

Forever Alone. Immortal. is a concept album based on the path of Luciferian enlightenment. From the beginning rebellion to the final suicide, the music is epic, triumphant, desperate, sorrowful, failure and despair.

Old Man Gloom - Christmas

Genre: Ambient/"core"/doom metal

Old Man Gloom isn't so much a concept album band, rather than they're a concept band in themselves. Apparently they write about a sci-fi universe with something to do with Apes.

Today Is The Day - Sadness Will Prevail

Genre: Metal/Hardcore/WTF

This is seriously one of the hardest albums to listen through start to finish. It is seriously emotionally crushing, as well as physically uncomfortable to listen to. Double album, almost 80 mins to each disc. Raw intensity and despair. Needs to be experienced to be understood.

Various Artists - Infernal Proteus (4CD + Book)

Genre: Various

Infernal Proteus is a four disc compilation put out by The Ajna Offensive in which many artists pay homage to various plants that mean something to them. Along with the music is included an art book with full colour illustrations and plates to accompany the music. Music ranges from ambient, to neofolk, to psychedelic rock/metal

Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Született

Genre: Breakcore

This album is about being a pigeon in Hungary, as a vast oversimplification because explaining the rest would require more examination. Maybe a pigeon in Hungary on cocaine outside a symphony house.

NOW GO AND BENEFIT FROM MY WISDOM

oh and I forgot the MOST IMPORTANT ONE

Especially Likely Sloth - But What If He'll What Ant
Genre: Tardcore

Concept: " ELS has very strange goals and an even stranger purpose. Band leader Jason Walton (best known for his project Nothing and his work with Sculptured and Agalloch ) claims to be possessed by an eight-year old mentally handicapped child named Chriss Cobb when composing and performing the music of ELS.
He states that the goal of Chriss Cobb is to preach the gospel of the new hell - the hell that exists now after Satan had revamped it to make it more torturous - and ELS is Chriss' vehicle for this message. Apparently, Satan thought that because the world has become fraught with violence, famine and disease, that hell started to pale in comparison and something needed to be done to make hell a threat again.

I also really like

H.E.R.R. - The Winter Of Constantinople

"The Winter of Constantinople press release:

Steeped in tragedy and legionary heroism, this musical odyssey recreates the penultimate 1453 siege of the Byzantine capital beside the shimmering waters of the Bosphorus. A neo-classical cocktail of atmospheric keyboards, cello and pounding drums frolic alongside militaristic anthems about European imperium, hooliganism as modern warfare, vanquished heroes, Turkish hordes, architectural majesty and defiant optimism. The diverse lyrical styles and sheer breadth of instrumentation on this release make it one of the most original and captivating albums of the last few years.
"

Also, I am appalled at your complete lack of current 93 in these listings.

There is a plethora of them!

a veritable cornucopia!

Yeah this thread was silly to begin with, I think we're in the clear.

I was just typing up a lot of rants about THE CONCEPT ALBUM and THE ROCK GOD JULIAN COPE by then I got bored halfway through so I have nothing to add.

or how about

BORIS - FLOOD

ok

furthermore then, I'd like to recommend anything that has to do with killing jews, as long as it isn't stupid little girls like Prussian Blue or any really gay R.A.C. bands.

you casually reminded me indirectly elsewhere but they need to go here

ALL 3

Hammers of Misfortune albums are pristine examples of concept in music
