This is a thread for music theory related stuff.

Here, I will post some pictures of some charts I have made for various theory exercises.

The first one here is an Intervals chart that I made so I could reference for later:

R/O = Root/Octave
4+ = Augmented 4th
Everything else should be self-explanatory

The second is a chart for the Circle of Fifths. I can't really do a pie chart without any numbers, so this is in a table type format:

I also have another spreadsheet where, when the key signature is put in along with some other parameters, it will show you the:
  • major
  • minor
  • augmented
  • diminished
  • suspended
  • dominant 7th
  • ninth
  • eleventh
  • thirteenth
chords in the given key signature.

I can't be bothered to post different screenshots of that though.

hi, i'm just sart playing guitar
in a music with the G,D,A,C chords witch scale(s) sound better?

Well, if it's in the key of G, the G major, D mixolydian, A dorian and C lydian scale would all sound good over a chord progression such as that.

Research 'modes of the major scale'

Cyberfret.com is a good place to find free lessons on modes. There you can find all you need to know about how to layer chords and chord progressions.

Have fun!

fucked up the merge of the two original threads and i cant rename the staff paper thread...

this thread is for discussion of theory and for posting resources to various websites, to include staff paper and other materials.
enjoy
