so who's a musician on this board? what instrument do you play and for how long?

...i've been playing guitar for almost a year and a half. i started out on acoustic and then realised it was pretty limiting so i got me an electric (my baby!) :D right now i play mostly metal, but also blues and a little bit of classic rock.. i'm trying to get better at soloing (trying being the keyword there!!)

random question: how do you say guitar in swedish?

I wouldn't exactly call myself a musician.
I attended a music school for almost 10 years (started at the age of 5 or 6), so I did play instruments, I also can read notes and stuff but I lack a lot of the things a good artist needs, writing skills for example.
I think when I was tired of playing stuff others wrote and realised I was not able to create something on my own I stopped playing.
Haven't touched my keyboard for years.....sounds pathetic and sad, heh? :(

oh......and guitar would be gitarr on Swedish I think.

I play guitar and some keyboard. But I wouldn't call my music metal, I compose what I feel to compose, but I guess it's sort of all falls under the metal category, except for some atmospheric stuff. My music isn't based on any structures, there isn't any verses, or lines that comes and go during the song, repeated. Simply, I try to forget all "rules" that has been created for guitar-playing over the years, and try to make something different. And there is no lyrics, as I can't sing/growl!:D

I've played keyboard for a 3-4 years or something now, and I had lessons in 2 of those years, but I feel I have teached myself the most. I started playing the guitar for soon 2 years ago (I kind of learnt myself), but I don't know if I'm good or bad:p

I'm a drummer of about 15 of my few years on this world.

And I've been formal taking piano lessons for about 8 months, but I've just messed around with synth and my keyboard for about 3 years.

what´s wrong with making a new topic about this subject, it sucks when you have first looking if the thread already exists...

I play guitar (electric and acoustic), mouth harp... I also compose some music. Very viking metal sounding. I hope I will find people who will in a band playing this music.

@ Ymir: First of al I have written my part in the old thread... so someone interested can go and read it there, second of all I think of UM and Mark did a very good search option on the bottom of the forum, very easy to use... esp. for lazy people, you don't need to search by pages...

sorry guys, i didn't know there was already a thread like this that existed!

@rabenreich... yeah i agree! i'm completely self-taught... i think it's pretty cool but after a while it can get kinda limiting. like sometimes it's really much easier when you have a teacher or someone more experienced to show you exactly how a certain technique works

I play for Vehemence. Check out these upcomming dates we have.
