shit as in below 128? i can probably live with 92 but nothing else is worth keeping on my comp...i'd probably listen to it and if i liked it i would try to buy it and then rip it myself.

I've never had a problem with 128, and if you have such a problem with bitrates maybe you should look into something called buying the CD.
