My Christian Power Metal

I can appreciate all the work that goes into writing and recording everything yourself. That is what Matt did with his first album. I love the message of your music. Always be bold in proclaiming what you believe. Good job!

This has potential. Like, if it wasn't homemade and instead done professionally (perhaps a full band?), I'd probably listen to it. The synth solo (or w/e that was) on The Christ Has Risen was kind of weird but other than that it's standard power metal and catchy. I like it.

Edit: Keep in mind that's coming from someone who is extremely picky when it comes to power metal and generally prefers other genres.

When even Rawshik had something nice to say about the song I just had to give it a listen (nhf <3)...and he's right. I really LOVE the songwriting, you need a band and a good studio. This has a TON of potential!
Best of luck, man..

This has some really good potential - I can appreciate the effort you've made thus far. I have to say I enjoyed The Christ Has Risen better than Martyr though. Martyr had too much of an indie tendency to my ears, but that's not saying its a bad tune.

That being said:

How do you record everything? software - equipment - etc.

I've been primarily a vocalist since before and after I departed from Theocracy as the bass player for the short period of time I had the honor of performing with Matt and the guys. I'd be willing to take a stab at some vocals for you at some point.

here are a couple of samples of what I can do:

This....this I also like a lot. Am I witnessing the potential birth of a glorious new metal band? I hope so.

Not to take away from the OP - but my first full length album (Project: Roenwolfe - Neverwhere Dreamscape) is due out at the end of August so you'll get a better idea of my vocals on that when it comes out. I have a couple unreleased tracks on dropbox I can link you to in PM if you wanna hear more for clarity on what I'm capable of.

Thanks everyone for your comments! Yeah everything is pretty rough right now. And the keyboard part in Christ Has Risen was never really meant to be a solo, it's kind of just filler for now. I'm actually a decent keyboardist so I'll go back and put in a proper power metal solo full of speed and arpeggios. It just takes awhile cause I'll have to record some new guitar parts, add more drums parts and write a new string or choir arrangement.

PatrickHoyt yeah I'd love to hear some more of your vocals. Please send a pm.

sent - also there are a couple of songs on my old myspace music page, it hasn't been updated for years now because I don't use it anymore but I keep it up because it has three songs on it and typically easier to stream for people.

Blacken Born is actually a song that Val and I wrote and recorded in the band we were in together prior to the Theocracy days.

Covenant of Blackened Blood is a song I recorded with Atlanta Institute of Music graduate and friend David Prince.

Pain of Loss was a song I recorded after the sudden and complete unexpected passing of my uncle in a freak tractor trailer incident.

These are older songs, so pardon the vocal quality.

Look, I'm not good at criticizing, so I'll just say great job writing everything and I hope it all works out, whatever it is.:) I don't know how to put this gently... sooooooooo... Vocals. I hate to be rude. I feel like a dick now.

Yes you're such a jerk for stating your opinion...how dare you. ((blatant sarcasm))

Sean fully acknowledges on the soundcloud comments that he was looking for someone who could potentially help with vocals so I don't think you're saying anything he didn't already know.

If you're referring to my stuff...well...I can't help that. :Smug: Its just how I sound - I've tried to do different things and that's the best I got.
