Still some editing to do aswell as the vocals that need to be recorded.

I'm going to work on the blast beats to make them more human.

I'm pretty happy with the snare. You think it should go up?

Otherwise I was just curious how this sounds to you as I can only really monitor on my AT Headphones. So especially the bass

I'm still learning :loco:

Some more sample of my music in Midi format @ www.myspace.com/poidaobi but they are only MIDI for now.

I think you did an excellent job on this mix.

I happen to like the way the snare sounds.

If you don't mind me asking: what did you use for your guitar tone to sound that way?

Thanks

Cheers guys.

2 Tracks By POD XT BB w/ TS-9.
2 Tracks ENGL PB.

The POD is the main sound. I just did an extra 2 with the PB as I was testing Mics and decided to add them to the whole song.

And just the standard hi/low pass.

Points duly noted and appreciated. :kickass:

I guess headphones may be the issue. I always A/B my mix with a couple of songs similar to mine. It seemed ok. But I guess If I A/B them both on speakers the PRO mixes will have juicy low end and mine wont.

I have a fairly good hi-fi system. So I should probably run the drums through that and give them another whirl .

I remember hearing this song in a kind of "hear how my miked powerball sounds" topic and i loved it and put it in my "badass raw miked engl tones" folder (i have an SE and i'm learning how to mike it properly to have a good raw tone).

The song is great but now the guitar sound is not as badass as in the earlier version (the one in the engl tone topic) IMO. I can clearly hear it in the 0'40 to 0'55 part where the guitar sound sounds less "mean/brutal/ballsy/edgy" (which is what i love in Engl amps) during palm muting than in your older clip. In this new clip the guitar sounds more lifeless/sterile/soft/processed (which is what i don't like in some of the latest Andy Sneap productions)
Maybe it's due to some over-EQing or the addition of the POD tone as a blend.

What do you think ?

Excellent stuff poidaobi!

All in all, great and clean mix... bass could be louder imo, and now we are nitpicking anyway :) before you go into the faster part of the song, the blastbeat part, it could use a drumfill in front of it, and maybe one or two in that blastbeat part.

That's all i can think of right now, good stuff sir!

Djab- I wish I had've recorded the whole song when I did that tone test clip. The problem was I only record a small section of the song and it goes for 8 minutes.

dill_the_devil - I think I deleted it. But I'll have a look

BNB - You have been a major help in me getting my drums setup. I remember that awesome thread you made. You probably noticed the actual programming is a bit boring...not exciting. Tom rolls and stuff I have to work on. The good thing is I can always add this stuff.

When you guys say bass could go up. Do you mean the bass guitar? and/or Maybe some more thud/thump in the kick? Does the snare need more low end? I boosted somewhere around 160 (I think) already.
