My Dying Bride: Worth Exploring?

tLAtEotW is the one I would choose then. I think it's a vastly underappreciated record. tAatDR is more in the style of TLtS where LGotS is a 100% clean vocal album. Keep in mind though, all of these differ quite a bit from SoDWoL.

I got tLAtEotW, and only a few tracks in and I LOVE it! I'm pretty certain I'm just going to like everything they've done. Something about them really strikes a nerve with me. It's like I wish I had written those songs, you know? I can't explain it any other way. And not all bands I like do that for me, either. I'm not sure if it means I like them more than those other bands or what. Anyone else who's a musician ever feel this way?

I got sick of newer My Dying Bride very quick and it sucks because their guitar playing and music in general is very good and consistant. Aaron got on my nerves really fast and just sounds like a wine ass. It seems my dying bride wants to make dark heavy music and the singer just wants to be a cry baby.

I think Aaron vocals compliments the music perfectly. I always dig his vocals.

one of my favourite bands, regardless what anyone else thinks of them. A lot of fans think "turn loose the swans" or "the angel and the dark river" are their best but my favourite is "the dreadful hours". a good introduction would also be their 2nd latest album "songs of darkness, words of light"
Very true, however my fav is "Turn loose the Swans" The opening song Sear Me contains Aarons vocals, acoustic piano and violin. I think this was a pretty courageous thing for a metal band to attempt back in 93. Dark and beautiful, lyrically and musically. Songs 2-6 are some of the best "doom" ever, imo. And then Black God is piano, violin, Aarons clean vocals and a female backing vox. Outstanding. This is the DOOM album. AATDR and TDH are also essential for MDB.:heh:
