Check it out in my sig, I did it for Wyllie's Bloodbath-inspired song (here's the original thread), and am quite proud of it! I used my Ibanez RGT42FM (retrofitted with a Prestige Edge Pro Bridge) with an EMG85 in the bridge into my Podxt with the Diezel Herbert (Diety's son) model.

Dude, great solo! I don't think I can think of something that would fit better. I just might have to hit you up for a guest solo on my project. :) Nice tone too! What's the signal chain?

Really nice melody man! Loving it!
For my personal tastes I would remove the pause at 0:17, but definitely a good work!

Hey, thanks a ton dudes! Viking, while I certainly consider myself competent as a player, I'm not exactly capable of ridiculously fast sweeps or alternate picking licks (I used the term mostly to get people's attention :D), so the melody aspect is what I usually try to focus on, and I'm glad you dig it! Socialnumb, yeah, I hear now that it's definitely too loud; basically, I was scrutinizing the hell out of it at a higher volume, and then I just dropped it a little and bounced it, so I was still in that mindset of hearing it at that volume. But if Wyllie decides to use it, he can be the judge of the final mix! And Unavailable, thanks dude, a solo isn't much more than wankery if it doesn't mesh, so I appreciate that!

Grywolf, I'd be honored man, keep me informed! The chain was just my Ibanez into the Podxt, using the Deity's Son model with the Treadplate Cab and Tubescreamer-modeled stompbox; very straightforward, but I've always really liked the Pod for leads (more than whenever I've mic'ed a cab for a lead, honestly, though rhythms are DEFINITELY another story)

Hades, yeah, I thought about that, but it just felt right phrasing-wise. Hard to think of anything more opinion based than soloing though, so I'm sure there are others would agree with you! :)

Radd, thanks man - I generally prefer shorter solos for the sake of keeping the listener's interest, though I've written some longer one's that I liked too; this time, though, I wanted to keep it to 8 bars.

Completely agree ... sometimes just nailing 3 good notes with a tasteful bend can sound 10X bigger than a barrage of sweeps ... its what I try to go for and only after I really really REALLY feel like I've expressed the proper musical statement to enhance the interplay of the music underneath ...

I'll throw in 1 big sweep!!! Hahahahaha:rock:

Again though, awesome solo dude

Accckk, dude, you put my solo in too early! :ill: I like your solo at the end, but listen to the version on my myspace, you'll hear mine is supposed to come in right as the riff starts after the fill, not during it.

Actually, scratch that, I had mine positioned in the second slot, so you can't use the fill for reference - but yeah, it goes right where the riff starts on the downbeat, and the last note carries into the beginning of your solo (which I always thought was a cool effect for trading solos, and a good way to approach it is to pan mine like L30, and yours R30)

Thats was really good, even though its not my favorite choice of music.
And you can really hear that you are a Ibanez player. ;D

Hahaha, guilty as charged, and proud of it! (though I do wanna eventually sell it, cuz the Edge Pro is a good bridge, but I've realized nothing can match the feel of an OFR)
