My "Flight:666" SXSW Review...

The film was amazing. The concert footage was outstanding and the scenes of Ed Force One in full flight were just wow!! Some hilarious moments from the guys as always - favourites being Nicko's "I wondered why it was so dark in here!" moment in the pyramid and Bruce's advice to Nicko for getting the three S's done in record time in the morning. Hahaha!!!!

It was great to see the Maidens and Mark again @ the screening. I attended the 10:30pm showing as well and saw Wanda and Jeff Milne :). I took a Maiden novice to that show and needless to say, he was SOLD! He finally understood why Maiden evokes such devotion.

Confession time! Did anyone ever have the same, emotional reaction after witnessing a Maiden show (I'm talking about the guy and his girlfriend weeping after one of the South of the border shows)? I did... twice...

now this is a good picture... from the LA Weekly

Thanks for the pics Tommy! Hahaha! I didn't even know those 2 guys in the middle pic. I was going to meet Sara in the next theater and they grabbed me and said photo please and put me with the two fellas. Then the ham bone came out and so did Sara so we were posin away. :headbang:

What a great experience that film was! It just flew by!! no pun intended!! Popular demad showing tomorrow again I heard! :)
I didn't see any of those passports around. The early birds must have snatched em all up!

Here's mine and Downshifter's reviews of the film. :D

awesome review :headbang:

seeing the band on the big screen was impressive huh! the sound (could have been louder tho at our theater) and the giants that they are - quite moving - i laughed with nicko and even got choked up with the fans on screen. there was this little long hair kid, couldn't have been more than 7 - running up and down the aisles during the last half. any other show people woulda been pissed huh - but this behaviour seemed right - i watched him for awhile that was fun hahah. it was hard to sit still and our row got rockin a couple times - was that just me?

When I went to sit, it was cool to see that Sara was sitting right behind me. Way cool! Yea, I saw that little kid running back and forth in the row in front of me and was cracking up too. I think he had a maiden shirt on too.

Awesome movie and excellent job of it being put together, although the sound could have been a little louder. I liked the way they played (I believe) the set list in the movie where in general (not always) each song was a different location. I was really glad to see fans in countries get to see maiden play where they hardly ever play, and in some cases it was maidens first time there. The fans emotion and dedication to see them was moving. I feel very lucky, more like spoiled, compared to some of these other countries in being able to see them. I hope maiden can do something like this again. I loved that wave of heads jumping up and down, so trippy looking. Hey, you ever see that on stage Sara?

Damn, you guys had a kickass time with the film.

I just found out that the movie will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on May 25 (June 9 in North America), so it looks like I'll be watching it here sooner than expected.

Maidenday was awesome in San Diego as well.
Many friends from here and IMFC boards showed up.
The movie was amazing. Bruce hitting the gong at India
and making flashback was awesome. The sound and
picture was best ever. Amazing mixing by Kevin.
In LA getting to see Lars was great. I went crazy.
He's such an amazing guy. Also in LA I got to see me
and my friend 1 second during NoTB at the rail.
Last month with the same friend we were on the video
of Broken beat and scarred of Metallica and now this.
I feel complete since I was in a Megadeth video too.
My most fave bands ever :) I already preordered
the DVD and concert DVD will be amazing. This was
another example of Maiden's supremacy.
