My Latest Purchases Thread Mk. III

It's prog doom from the UK. REALLY fucking good but hard to find. Kinda like Confessor yet totally different. Less doom, more metal I suppose. Very dark progressive metal.
Hmm Seer's Tear sound totally different from Confessor... i mean i wouldnt put these 2 bands in the same sentence. If they remind one band then the band is Psychotic Waltz (especially the first song of the album is a total tribute to Psychotic Waltz). Also they are not doom at all, they have their slow moments, but they have the fast moments, they are mostly mid tempo and without any .. "doomy" riff. I would just call the "progressive metal" influenced by the basics (Psychotic Waltz, Fates Warning) but they have their own sound and they are freakin awesome. The album is one of my favourite prog metal albums ever, the songs have an amazing warmth within them and are emotional in a special and unique way. Another lost prog band that should have tasted the success and glory of overrated bands like Pain Of Salvation or Evergay.

There ya go. I agree. I couldn't find the right words. I brought up Confessor because they are both dark and proggy. Yet I did state that they are totally different. I'm glad I picked this album up from a trade.

well they better be! *shakes fist* :loco:

i never really thought i'd become a Neurosis fanboy to be perfectly honest. but when i have 3 albums by a group and start panicking (usually 1 album per artist is more than enough for me), then well, something is something on something or other.

edit: oh, i have a new name again. :tickled:

Well, I can totally relate to your enthusiasm. Can you remind me which Neurosis record you have? Can you name some favorite songs of yours?

*btw, I intend to change my username too...how did you do that?

there's a Name Change forum, toward the top of the main forum page thingy here. Russell has carte blanche on changing mine whenever he feels like it. :dopey:

i have Neurosis & Jarboe, Through Silver in Blood, and The Eye of Every Storm. favorite tracks would be His Last Words, No River to Take Me Home, and Aeon. honestly it's all pretty great stuff, only TSiB just takes a certain mood to enjoy.

Good songs, you might enjoy "Times of Grace" better...I don't know for sure. ToG is more of a catarsis album where A Sun That Never Sets' more versed to contemplative beauty, for the lack of a better word.

Got some unexpected rent subsidy, and ordered some stuff that I've been wanting to get for a long time...

Rage Against the Machine - "Rage Against the Machine"
At the Drive-in - "Relationship of Command"
Soundgarden - "Superunknown"
The Cure - "Pornography"
Paradise Lost - "Host" (love that album, never understood the Depeche Mode comparisons)
