Just curious.. how much of the drumsound is natural?

The drums are all real except for the kick I sampled it with his own sound. I used 3 dynamics.

This kit is the one I was talking about uploading samples for about a month ago, I had mention I had this session comng up and that I would sample the drums, so If enough people are interested in these drums samples I can put em up for downloading..... The kit is a Pearl Masters Custom Maple...

As far as "THE SPECS" Guitar Left was a Line6 HD147 head with V30 cab and for the Right Guitar it was a Hughes and Ketner also with same cab - One SM 57 about 1/2 inch off center of cone. The bass is thru an SWR Mo BASS head and SWR Goliath Cab - One beta 52 near cone and bulb intersection. I use the mo bass DI out direct to the board.

The drums I used an ATM25 on 10" tom and 16"floor tom for the testy (I Hate) 12" I used a MD421. Kick is a beta 52 and a akgD12 on outer head for whoomff.
Snare is 2 sm57's and the overheads were a combo of 2 414's as main overheads and Octava 012's as china mic and 2 Octave 012's for room mics. Oh and A 414TLII for the hi hats......

I used the Channel Strip plug-in for the drums and on the bass mic, I tried it on the 15 day trial and now my 15 dayz are up.......F&$*#*#(!!!!!! I have to say I like that plug-in a lot.

John. what distortion did you "get away" with using on the bass?

Mikey! Well actually in his chain their was a Boss Bass overdrive that we ended up not using cause its was making the high strings very farty, he didnt relaize this until we put the mic up to it, He plays with his fingers and the dynamics were very touchy. So we ran all the bass dry w/no distortion. For the end part of this song we used the built in distortion on the Mo Bass head, turned out heavy and thick- NOT FARTY!!!! lol
