My mix...... :s

Ok,
This isnt the final version of my mix - I have to wait a little while before I can work on it cos I have so much going on at the moment with other jobs, etc..
The vocals are being re-recorded sometime in the near future (hopefully), not happy with that vocal sound - it was a Rode NT5 used, handheld..
Solos also are likely to be rerecorded.
Other than that, I want to play around with the kick sound a bit more (yes I know it is really quite loud in this mix) and also play around with the tom sounds - maybe try fatten up the snare a little too..

Anyway, if you could let me know what you think of the mix at the point its at at the moment that would be awesome - ive never really had any feedback on my work so am keen to hear what other people think.

This is an awesome song.

The drum programming is awesome, especially in the fills/rolls in the intro. I think the kick drum sound is good too.

The singer has a great voice in it fits the style well.

You might want to add some more cut or high end to the guitars to give them a bit more of a shiny razor sort of sound.

Only the kick is programmed - I tried beat detectiving the shit out of the tracks to start with but couldnt get it as tight as I wanted without there being crazy stuff going on in the OHs. toms are replaced though.

Cheers man. Kick sample was two different samples I had blended with some EQ. I had a really clicky kick sample that sounded like something quite nile-ish, mixed with another quite dull, dead sounding sample. I used the Waves API-550B EQ to cut some presence and click out of the nile-esque sample, and boosted somewhere around 200 odd to fatten it up a bit. I can bounce down a couple of samples for you and send them to you if youd like?
As far as toms go, I think those samples were actually taken from the DFH Haake kit and then processed quite extremely, im not actually sure if I like them too much though..

Those toms are pretty darn awful, especially the one on the far left which has way too much 'low-end', while being tuned high. :/ The kick sounds really good but really programmed, and is too loud. Snare a bit too soft, but maybe only in comparison to the too-loud kick and toms.

Overall I think the drums are overpowering this a bit. The guitars are a bit muffled by the loud cymbals, and the vocals are a tad too soft. Fix that and it'll sound really good.
