Hi
These are 2 raw mixdowns I did to check the sound.
The first is Engl Powerball and natural drum sound (only a little compression here and there and a kick sample)
The second is my Savage 60 and some experiments on the drums (but I don't like them at all)
I'm interested expecially in which guitar sound do you like more.
Mixes are too much close yet.

Without getting into this forums huge bias against Powerballs I do think the Savage does sound vastly superior tonally.

When I had a powerball, the one time I miced it I got a similar sound. People described it as "lofi", because it lacked treble and bass and was all mids. That's how this sounds to me. Not as bad, but the same character.

im gonna agree with all 3 replies so far.
man, the savage really does shit on the powerball on THIS topic. not to say that i havent heard any good powerball clips, but the savage sounds far superior on this clip.
great drumming too, i really want the raws D:
can has plz?

The powerball is an ok amp, but the savage just destroys it. To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of either clip though - a bit thin and trebleish for my taste.

The "problem" is that they like very much the mix with the powerball (the last one I posted). For me it's too much close....but probably I'll blend the savage with the powerball.

I liked the Savage way more than the Powerball.

I'm not sure if it's just how the Powerball sounds compared to the Savage or whether there was something different between the two recordings like the volume of the two tones being different or what, but the one with the Savage sounds much more direct and makes the Powerball recording sound as others have said, lofi or missing some important element completely.

I've only tried to record a Powerball a few times and that was through an ENGL XXL cabinet and I got terrible results.
