my newest latest work, maybe my best

i really like the band... very interesting.

for me, the OH's and vocals sound amazing. the rest is very good, but those really stand out.

what'd you use for the OH's?

i also really like the room sound going on in the vocals of all your mixes. do you set-up a different mic for this, or is that just the room information that the 3035 is picking up and being brought forward by heavy compression?

good shit dude.. major props.

ah, very interesting. thanks for the insight.

i don't think it needs to be brighter. sounds perfect as-is. i probably wouldn't change a thing..

once again, good work my man.

I think the clean vocals on the chorus are covered up a bit too much by the synths. It'd make sense to pan the vocals out and create a larger sense of space, rather than letting them all fight amongst themselves and the synth. The bass guitar aspect of the low-end could be a bit more present and create perhaps a larger bed of bass, as most of what you can hear down there is the kick, and some low-end cab resonance from the guitars.

I agree about a bit more high-end. I think the guitars more than anything, either need a bit of low-mid cuts, or high-mid boosts.. they need to cut a bit more. Cymbals sound pretty good in terms of high-end.. doesn't seem like they'd need any more... I wouldn't just slap a high shelf on the master bus, hehe.

I think the mix as a whole could use a touch more tweaking for everything to sit a little nicer. On the whole it's shaping up to be a great mix though, so good on you. Nice, open, wall-of-sound chorus... gotta love those.

Sounds very good dude! Would you mind sharing that Pod patch??

Also, what do you use as far as processing on the PodXT? Plugins and EQ I mean. I'm having a hard time getting my Pod to sound big. Do you record with the USB direct? Or do you use the 1/4" outs?

thanks!

i have a pod xt pro so i record spdif out (analog out = coloration to the tone)

it makes it clean and quiet as possible, you can literally stop playing on the guitar, and your noisefloor for that track will hit -inf

as far as processing, i do as much as i can on the pod its self going in, then in the mix i cut 50 hz high pass, and 12khz low pass

try boosting 300hz or 400hz to make the guitar notes sing through the speakers, and boost 5khz - 8khz for definition/clarity

Thanks for the tips dude. Do you use the cab sim or do you use impulses?? And which patch do you use? Sorry for all the questions, but you have some really nice tone goin on there.

Joey this sounds real good and i agree its up there with your best if not the best Ive heard.

I remember you posted a pic of your drum room and was pretty plain square room so it seemed if i remember correctly. Have you done much treatment or do anything special to track these drums in there? They sound amazing thats why i ask......

Also great job on that pod tone its HUGE:rock: Makes me want to buy one:Smug:

If you get a minute and have a camera I would love to see how u set up sleeping bags and how many, thats a pretty cool idea to do....

Like i said this sounds top notch and to come from were it did is just mind blowing. Your a great producer and engineer bro, you def got the nack.....
